Why would you think blocking a dunk is realistic

This happens so rarely in the NBA it's not even funny. If they're already close enough to dunk, you've already lost the battle and should just concede the dunk. A better defensive strategy would be to

1) Stop penetration in the paint before they get momentum and position to dunk
2) Steal the entry pass
3) Go for the on the ball steal (if you have a player with active hands sig it helps more)
4) Use your best post defender

just sick of the "I can't block dunks, this game is broke!"

While I'm at it. If you're not using 2k cam, you're not seeing A LOT of angles that will help you particularly on Defense and Rebounding. And also, just because you have a A+ release doesn't = automatic shot. You gotta also factor in hot and cold / momentum / shot selection.

When we see block a dunk(at least when I say it)we mean you can't stop the dunk once the animation starts. You can be in perfect position and jump to contest the dunk, but the dunker will just morph through you to complete the dunk.

Best D vs that I've found is to not go for the block in that case, but to position yourself before the dunk animation can begin. So instead of jumping, stay planted.

Come on man LD2k said they were already aware of the issue....

You can have perfect position and two defenders in the paint and still get dunked on.

It seems like all contact is ignored .

He said aware of the complaint I think, idk if he was saying it was a real issue. So how many dunks should we block in a game, like 5? Probably happens 5 times a month, if that, in the real nba.

I do not find blocked dunks to be very rare at all. Just randomly searching the first few results on YouTube for blocks by a rookie player averaging 20 minutes a game turned up:

And as someone who watches the Pistons night in and night out, that's just the tip of the blocked dunk iceberg. I haven't even mentioned Jason Maxiell yet. And that's just two players from one team out of 30. Blocked dunks happen and they're common. To make them impossible, even when a shot blocker has position and meets the offensive player at their peak, can be quite a detriment to a basketball simulation.

yeah if yer saying more contact I think it could use a bit more. but blocking a dunk happens rarely. guys shouldn't be jumping to contest a dunk they should be holding position.

I say blocking dunks but really I mean interrupting the dunk animations too.
