Best blockers are useless in this game!

McGee, Jordan, Howard, you can not stop someone even with the blocking slider at 100.

Re: Best blockers are useless in this game!

I'd have to pay closer attention. On the surface, i think I'd agree. When I'm in control of a shot blocker with a clean path to a vulnerable shooter around the hoop, I don't really ever have the feeling that I can go get it. Blocks still happen and I think they're much better overall than they were in 2K12 (where the ball was loose enough to be blocked by armpits, elbows, and hips) but I do not think they're where 2K and their fans probably wish they were.

For one thing, I think elite shot blockers should be a little springier inside. On rare occasions, I'll be controlling someone like David Robinson and I'll see Sam Cassell drive to the basket. There'll be a perfect line for Robinson to slide over and help. I time it out and I initiate my leap... but Robinson inexplicably hesitates then begins an animation that is not at all conducive to actually trying to block the shot. It's as if the game decided I was not going to block that shot, so even though I was in position and timed it correctly, I was going to be served with a poor animation.

As I said though, my guess is this aspect of the game is a battle 2K's trying to fight and win. It sounds like they know the dunk blocking is an issue and that likely means the entire blocking mechanic is once again under review. Admittedly, it seems like a tough thing to balance. How do you create realistic blocking situations without overdoing it?

Re: Best blockers are useless in this game!

Biyombo averages 2 blocks, Mullens 1.3, Kemba had 2 blocks last game.. Seems good enough to me. Will post slider later. http://www.operationsports.com/forum...2-go-cats.html As you can see, I get realistic amount of blocks in game.

See NBA 2K11...

Basically, program the game to stop OVERRIDING my button presses and make the animations where the shotblockers moves in the direction of the ball. It's that simple in my mind. Oh yeah...get rid of the signature skills. I have no problem blocking the "regular" players (not as consistent as I like, but I can get a block every once in a blue moon), but I can't think of the last time where I sent Kobe/Melo/Lebron/Wade/etc shot into the bleachers in an online game.

Defense as a whole needs improving.

My best blocker is Evan Turner, the game is random as hell.

I was reading a thread a while ago where a user said you don't see a lot of shot blocks because the CPU doesn't put itself in situations to get its shot blocked. The CPU very often will put itself in situations for you to get a block yet even if you time it right you just won't get a block because the game doesn't want you too. The CPU will either miraculously be able to cancel their shot and get a pass off or your players hand will pass through the ball.
