Number One Overall: The Story of Geno Smith

'we're going to take the best player available' Andy Reid 13th March 2013...

Good evening football fans, welcome to the 2013 NFL Draft - Lets get underway - the Kansas City Chiefs are on the clock.

With the 1st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft the Kansas City Chiefs select ... Geno Smith - Quarterback - West Virginia

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kansas Select Geno Number One Overall!!

Andy Reid has made his first move in rebuilding the Chiefs franchise. Reid who was castigated for putting his house on Michael Vick has declared his hand early drafting Geno Smith number one overall passing on the placer many considered the best overall player, Luke Joeckell (Texas A&M), to fill their much need at Quarterback. This decision to reach for Smith is a huge hit or bust move from the Chiefs front office and will surely shape Andy Reid's future not only in Kansas but the NFL.

Smith rated as the top quarterback prospect coming into the draft was expected by many to go within the top 10 with Buffallo and Oakland the top selected destinations but the former Orange Bowl winning quarterback will see his NFL future and legacy played out under a man who many believe to be the King Maker of signal callers in the league.

Smith considered a true 'Pocket Passer' has much upside but is expected to show some teething issues making the jump to the pro's. some point to his lack of experience in a pro-style offence as a major negative, but the Chiefs surely factored in the impacts Cam Newton and Robert Griffin III had on their franchises.

The Chiefs Add Haynesworth

The Kansas City Chiefs have this morning plucked Albert Haynesworth from the Free Agency pool. The DT formerly of the Washington Redskins and New England Patriots has been signed to a 1-year $3.2m deal. In a short statement on the clubs website Coach Reid stated, 'We are developing on offense so we need to be as strong as possible on the defensive side of the ball. Albert adds power and a true fear factor for 0-linemen. He has been called everything under the sun from lazy, to useless from all manner of people in the league, but when i met him i saw nothing but desire in his eyes.

Re: Number One Overall: The Story of Geno Smith

I have decided to skip the remainder of pre-season and get straight to the start of the regular season .....

Some more house rules, ive reduced the quarter length to 11mins after some unrealistic passing stats.

I'll also be using both of Andy Reids PB's during his tenure in Kansas

Goodell 'Concerned' by Injuries to Stars in Pre-Season

The 'Madden Cover Curse' strikes again

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says he is extremely concerned about player safety, as some of the leagues top stars were placed on Injured Reserves by their franchises. Calvin Johnson and Derrell Revis players considered to be the best in the league at their positions have both been placed on the list along with Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. The commissioner speaking to a fans forum on Monday ahead of the leagues opening weekend said; 'I'm regretful for all fans of our great league, but particularly the players themselves, not just the stars you have named but all those who will miss the whole season. I'm sure the fans are as equally as upset as I am to see two stars such as Derrell and Calvin go down but it allows those lower on the depth chart to step up and start making their own story in the NFL.'

Unrest In Kansas?

Geno Smith has launched an attack on the Kansas City Chiefs front office just months after they drafted him first overall in the Draft. Smith is reportedly disgruntled at the naming of just five wide receivers on the teams depth chart. I dont think we can win in this league without six or seven receivers. We might be a run first team but five backs to five receivers makes no sense to me.'

The Chiefs have not responded publicly to the Smith quotes, but sources suggest he will be fined by head coach Andy Reid. the comments have brought a raft of abuse from fans and commentators alike.

@SkipBayless Five minutes Geno's been in the league and he's taking on the front office! WOAH!

@TheRealMucc The Most inflated draft choice in recent times taking a pop at those who selected him, clever...

@WarrenSapp maybe Geno has a point once Bowe's covered who does he throw too?

Chiefs Defy Late Falcons Rally In Season Opener

Quote:
We excelled in all departments today. Geno kept up with Matt Ryan in his first NFL start. Our D was on top throughout conceding just 26 points to that passing attack is an exceptional achievement, add to that two defensive scores and you've got the perfect defensive game. we have areas to improve but we've shocked people in our first game and i'm pleased.
