Question regarding Be a GM Roster/Player Signing Issue

Probably a ways behind the curve on this question, but figured I'd ask -

I've run into an issue with my Be a GM mode. I've recently started a new mode, as I've taken some time (more than I would have liked, but unfortunately work has gotten in the way) to correct every team's roster, and finally am ready to roll.

My question is this - for some odd reason, whenever I try to sign an unsigned prospect or free agent (2-way contract to put them in the minors), I get a message saying that my roster is full and I am not allowed to sign any more players. This is the first year I've run into this, so I'm a little baffled. I did create more prospects than usual this year to keep it quasi-realistic at least from one team's perspective, but I'm wondering if the "CPU correct Rosters" feature is screwing something up, as I've noticed a few other oddities with the "corrected" rosters (i.e. players from my AHL roster becoming free agents, another goalie being added to my AHL team that isn't there in my corrected rosters, etc.)

Also curious if there is a maximum roster size for the "In the System" classification, i.e. guys in the CHL/AHL under contract. I've done some further tweaking, and here's my current breakdown:

NHL Roster: 23 (21 skaters 2 goalies)
AHL Roster 21 (19 skaters 2 goalies)
CHL: 6 (4 skaters 2 goalies, all "under contract")

Just a little curious why I can't add any free agents or sign any unsigned system players. Not that it's a problem in year one, as I'm unlikely to divert too much for actual rosters other than trade deadline moves, but I'm a bit hesitant to play through a full season and have the same issue in year 2 if it's some kind of glitch.

Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance...

I think you have reached the maximum number of players under contract allowed =50. Another limit (not in your case) to consider is 45 skaters under contract.

The players on your AHL team missing most likely aren;t property of your NHL team, but just play on your AHL team. As with the goalies, this may be beucase you only have 3 goalies under contract, so your AHL team gets a rental/loan player who is not under contract of your team.
Kind of complicated but hope it helps.
