Coach Arnold McMurray's Journey

Making his way up the coaching ladder for what seems like forever, Arnold McMurray has been announced the newest head coaching hiring in the National Football League. Boasting a 252-138 record through 40 years of coaching high school and college schools, McMurray is seen by many as a last-ditch effort by Cardinal management to become relevant again amongst the elite in the NFC.

When asked about changes, the new coach claims that, "Everyone has potential to go. Well, everyone except the Fitzgerald kid. I won't be known as the old guy who got rid of the hall of famer." Among the speculated big names to leave is Beanie Wells and Darnell Dockett, which will certainly shake up the makeup of the current team.

Only time will tell what becomes of this, but I must ask, is this a good signing for the organization? A coach without any experience in the professional area of coaching, and three-fourths of the experience coming from the high school football game, seems like it could be very problematic. Cardinal Nation, what do you think? Tune in next month for your answers, my responses, and as always, the big news that happens through the pre-season.

Hello everyone, this is my first attempt at a recorded dynasty here on this site, and I'm hoping those who read will enjoy this. I'll be doing more than just simply recording stats and such (although I see nothing wrong with that!), as I will also be writing storylines as this progresses. Any blogger/reporter/etc used throughout is purely fictional, made up in a spur of the moment naming. I'm hoping for any and all feedback as well. Anyways, enjoy!

Halftime Notes - Cardinals vs. Seahawks:

Very questionable call by the new ball coach. Leading by a touchdown and on the goalline with 2 seconds left in the half, Coach McMurray decided to go for the jugular early an paid for it dearly. Kam Chancellor jumped an inside slant and came up with the ball. However, the Cards are up 21-14 right now, and John Skelton looks phenomenal on what is supposed to be a very good Seahawks secondary. L-Fitz has two TD's off 4 catches, and should be three if not for the officials calling a play back.

Shootout in the Desert!

The Arizona Cardinals seem to finally have it together! After years of questions and under performing, it appears that this team will finally make a good run at the playoffs!

Of course, this is just one game in to the season, but the Skelton-led Cardinals won against the Seattle Seawawks on Sunday, 58 to 34.

Skelton, who threw for 426 yards and added four touchdowns, was very pleased with his team, "Oh yeah, they were terrific. Coach Mick said that we could win this year, and we have faith we will continue."

New head coach Arnold "Mickey" McMurray got his first professional win today, and if yesterday's game is any indication of what to come, maybe this will be a year of many firsts for him.

Halftime Reaction - Cardinals at Patriots

Overmatched and underplaying. That's all that can really be said at this point. Take away Larry Fitzgerald's 60 yard touchdown, and this game is practically a blowout. New England has practically marched down the field on all but a few drives, and poor quarterback play isn't helping the Cardinals. Skelton had better get his ducks in a row after two picks in the first half (leading to 10 points for New England), or else this will get away from Arizona.

New England 30
Arizona 21

Fighting in Foxboro

Even the Cardinals' most avid supporters didn't see this one coming; Arizona beat New England!

After being down by 9 at halftime, captain Larry Fitzgerald told his team exactly what they needed to hear, "We dug our own grave with the way we played today. I just went in the locker room, and I told them exactly that. I told them its time to stop digging and it's time to start fighting back."

Fitzgerald's impressive stat line, 7 receptions for 130 yards and 1 touchdown, would typically be the story, but the defense gets the attention today.

After allowing 30 points and with no end in sight to the scoring, the Cardinal defense stood strong and didn't allow another point. "Chalk that up to LBs," Coach McMurray said afterwards, "26 tackles as a unit, 7 for losses. Stat line speaks for itself. I'm proud of the boys."

Re: Coach Arnold McMurray's Journey

Yeah, woo-hoo the Cards won this week. Yeah, I know it was against the Super Bowl favored Pats. There is a glaring issues that I see creeping up in the near future and it will bite McMurray in the *** hard if he doesn't control it. Giving Ryan Williams the ball 32 times!? Let me run some stats for you all;

Ryan Williams - 32 carries, 142 yards, 4.4 yards per carry, 0 touchdowns.

LaRod Stephens-Howling - 4 carries, 58 yards, 14.5 yards per carry, 2 touchdowns.

Do you see what I see? LaHotRod is clearly the better running back, and he was last week as well! I'll be the first to admit Williams had a good game, but it was mostly a patriots defense getting fooled instead. LaHotRod ran PAST them all, instead of BY them all.
Lets hope this coach doesn't sit this kid down, and instead sits Williams down.

Re: Coach Arnold McMurray's Journey

Halftime notes - cards vs eagles

- Fitzgerald continues to impress. Skelton is quickly losing the home crowd despite leading the NFL in passing yards.
- Sam Acho has been around every single play, 1 key sack and 4 tackles, all for loss.
- LeSean McCoy broke off two monster runs of 87, 80 yards. Ryan Williams has less than half of that in the same amount of time.
- Vick has happy feet, running on more passing plays than he has actual attempted passes; 7 scampers for 30 yards, 6 attempted passes for 33 yards.
- Coach McMurray was visibly yelling at his offensive coordinator after two red zone attempts within the 12 yard line ended in field goals.
-Eagles 17, Cardinals 13.

Re: Coach Arnold McMurray's Journey

May the Better Bird Win

Two pick-sixes sealed this game within the last minute as a storm of boos swept over University of Phoenix Stadium. John Skelton is skating on thin ice in the desert.

Despite throwing for negative passing yards in the game, the Philadelphia Eagles came into Phoenix and clobbered the Cardinals 37 to 20. LeSean McCoy ran for 264 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense put up as many touchdowns as the Cardinals offense did.

Even Coach McMurray was frustrated in this game, visibly yelling at offensive coordinator Jeff Gardner in the first half. When asked about it after the game, both coaches remained silent on the matter, quickly changing the subject and moving on.

On a night where nothing could go right, the Arizona faithful are left with more questions than answers. Was this John Skelton's last game after throwing 6 interceptions? Is there a growing offensive controversy, and over what exactly did the coaches fight about? Will this ship be righted in time for next week's game against the Miami Dolphins?
