Motion Snap... Is it Cheese?

The question came up in a league that I'm in.

Is it cheese to Manually Motion a WR, then snap the ball before he comes set?

Example:
1. motioning a WR and snaping the ball when he is near the A gap to get extra blocking

2. motioning a WR to get a "free release" off the line

3. motioning the WR then snapping to get one specific animation that makes the CB have a brain fart...

---

I say, its lame and always has been...

What are your thoughts?

Re: Motion Snap... Is it Cheese?

I wouldn't say is cheese. You have a lot of motion in football so that the WR can get a free release. You also see receivers stop at the end of a tight end to help run block on the strong side. You don't see WR really help blocking between the tackles, but you do see tight ends do it all the time. I will motion a TE and snap between the TE and tackle on two TE sets. When I motion WR I do wait until they are reset. Just cause that's how my league is played

Motioning into the gap manually is cheesy. How many nfl teams motion a wr behind center and snap the ball? Very few and it isn't done often because it doesn't provide any advantage to have a wr block a lb man up.

Motioning a wr outside the te for a crackback block is used often in the nfl however.

Re: Motion Snap... Is it Cheese?

When considering the AI/logic in the game, I would call it cheese....

Motioning to the A Gap: Yes, cheese.

Motioning to get a free release: No, happens on Saturday and Sunday all the time.

I did meant to say that motion inside tackle box is cheese. Outside of tight end is not. See it week in and week out.

Re: Motion Snap... Is it Cheese?

I see it more as, whether or not the action is taking advantage of the AI/logic limits....

We see seam routes in the NFL and NCAA, but no way to the effect that they are run in Madden 13....

We see teams in the NFL and NCAA go for it on 4th down, but not to the extent that it happens in Madden....

Same with 2 pt conversions and a number of other plays and decisions being made in Madden.....

I am not saying people should stop doing seams or 2pt conversions or going for it on 4th down; just sayning there is that fine line between what is done in real life and what may be a little cheesy in the virtual game of a real life game....

Re: Motion Snap... Is it Cheese?

Its in the game so its in the game. They should however make it more risky by having a system in place that sometimes makes the player get a false start or illegal motion penalty.
