How important is the player scheme?

Whenever I scout I tend to ignore prospects whose scheme is different than mine. Is this a good strategy or are good players always worth it regardless of scheme

Others may disagree, but I find for the most part that I hardly take scheme into consideration when drafting. Even if they are a high OVR in a different scheme other than mine, the fact that he's high overall in any scheme means he's talented in certain attributes. I tend to disregard the OVR in my scheme in this case.

If he fits your scheme it gives him more xp points. I still draft a few here and there that doesn't fit my scheme. I like cover/ tampa 2 linebackers but my scheme calls for 3-4 tacklers. If you dont care about a little more xp then don't worry about it. It's just like the development trait. If your Slow = Low XP, Normal = Average XP, Quick = More then average XP, Superstar = Max XP for any goal.

Does anyone have any actual evidence that players who fit your scheme gain more XP? I've seen people say that they heard it somewhere, but never any numbers or testing. All my guys get the same number of points per goal as the rest of the guys at that same DEV level.

I play in 6 online CCMs and I changed the scheme in every one to 3-4 on defense (5 of them were 4-3 teams) and run based schemes on OFF. I changed all the player types (back when I thought all this stuff might actually function ). Point is....hardly any of my players fit my player types or schemes and with as many 10k XP packages as I've bought I find it hard to believe I'm missing out on XP. I've bought a couple of 20k Clutch Player packages.

Re: How important is the player scheme?

I'm pretty sure scheme plays a part in rather a player will resign with you or not as well.
