How to permanently change formations in playbook?

In the old madden you were able to press the trigger button while in playbook mode and change players positions. You could for example replace your DE with a DT or change the WR from X position to Y position. After you did this, it stayed like that permanently. In the new game however, it changes back every new game in CCM.

Is there any way to change the playbook so that the substitutions you made are made permanent?

Simple answer: no

You can change the subs so they keep the same package in that formation for the rest of the game, but I find it frustrating that when using "ask madden" it always give you the default package for that formation.

In my CCM I used the Panthers playbook, but it is very TE intensive and usually places a TE in the slot when I would much prefer to have a faster WR out there.

I was wondering the same thing.

I play co-op CCM as SS and for some reason, the formation packages this year (4-3 especially) seem to have some where the SS is on the right and some where he's on the left, so we have to do the formation subs each and every game, which is a bit of a hassle. Same on offense with the WR amendments, doing sub changes each and every game rather than once.

A similar frustration; in previous Maddens you were kept on the same defensive player from play-to-play, whereas now I have to find my SS when I vary the formation (Nickel, Dollar etc) i.e. click around pre-snap before each play to get control of the same defensive player that I was on the previous play (individual stats mean much more when you stay as the same defender IMO). Like the formation subs issue, it would be great if they could revert back to previous Maddens for this problem.

I am actually having an issue where once I change some subs in the play-select screen via RB, that it will freeze the other packages within a formation. For example, my offline CCM with the Bears, I go to the Nickle, and change it to the 4 DE package, which puts Peppers at RT instead of RE. I then do some other switching, but once I do that, the defensive line subs are now stuck at my changes, and it no longer switches my players correctly for when I want to change the package, to for example, DE Swap.
