Help with terminology: A gap, B gap?

I'm watching some youtube videos trying to learn how to play better, and these references keep popping up especially A-gap, B-gap, purple zone etc. How does one know what these gaps are referring to?

Gaps refer to the spaces between offensive linemen:

The gaps are the holes in the o-line, primarily used in running plays. A gap is between the C and the G's, the B is between the G's and the T's and so forth.

Other terms? Google football + the term in question, should find it several places :-)

I understand the gaps, but the OP mentioned something else. That is the purple zone. Can someone explain the purple zone question. What is it? Thanks in advance.

Purple zone puts the corner or whoever you shadow towards the sideline. If you have a player that does curls, out routes, corner routes, it well help guard the sideline

And here's one for the "technique".

So if you ever hear "he's playing the 3-technique", now you know.

And one for the zones:

Purple zones cover the "Outs"
Yellow zones cover the Curl-Hook-Hook-Curl Areas
Cyan zones cover the "Flats" area and are in position to contain ball carriers coming out of the "Swing" areas
Dark blue zones cover the "Deep" areas.

He mentioned it because a good bit of the youtube off/def predicates itself on flaws in the game...like sending DT's into 'purple zones' to glitch out blocking A.I. to free up a pass rusher.
