Rebounding Help (My Career)

Anyone out there mind sharing some of their tips when it comes to rebounding? I'm not a great player by any means (don't play online at all, just screw around in my career/association pretty much) but I'm not horrible either. Still, rebounding is definitely my weakness.

I'm playing as a Center for the first time and finding it much more difficult to get rebounds consistently despite being 7'1 and jacking up my rebounding/vertical/hands numbers. In fact, I found it easier to get boards as a PG -- which says to me I'm doing something wrong.

I box out, or try to, and have tried varying when I jump -- but haven't found a way to rebound consistently. I normally find myself too close to the basket while rebounding, causing my player to either miss the ball or the ball hits his head and goes to the other team.

I'm averaging 6 boards a game right now which is horrible for a 7 footer who contributes little on offense (ha!). Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Upgrade hands and rebounding attributes. Hands increases your chances of catching the ball -- which helps you grab the rebounds especially when there's multiple guys going for it.

Re: Rebounding Help (My Career)

I am still learning to play too, but here are some tips that I have:
1. box out - focus on your matchup at all time, and when the shot goes up, hold LT and RT(not sure on RT, sometimes I get called foul for push players out of my way) to box out

2. Don't try to jump and block every shot/layup, sometimes just hold the right stick to put your hands up is enough, and you get to keep your position too

3. Be patient, sometimes the ball just won't go your way, but keep boxing out will still help your team and get a better team grade, even you don't get any rebound

these all from my personal experience as I have a 6'11" center in my career too. When playing against Miami, I got too drawn and try to block every layup/penetration attempt, and end up got only 3 rebounds. But then in the next game against New Orleans, I was more focus and due to less threat provided by their guards, I pulled down 17 boards!

Re: Rebounding Help (My Career)

Been working on the tips provided here. Got my hands all the way up, so I'm pretty good in terms of pure ratings in rebounding (O&D), Strength, Hands, Vertical. Really been focusing on blocking out my man (rather than whoever is closest to the bucket) and have noticed a slight improvement. Still, I seem to get out rebounded by my own teammates.

I'm playing for the Warriors right now (drafted 30th lol) and Curry keeps out boarding my guy when we're side by side. Don't mind that in the grand scheme of things because I'm trying to win games, but I'm also trying to improve my own play on the boards.

Does holding down R2 and hitting Triangle (on PS3) make you jump higher/more aggressively for boards? I can't tell when I try it, though my guy does seem more out of control so I try not to do it.

Re: Rebounding Help (My Career)

From my personal experience, hold down RT or R2 would only make my player jump and tip the ball.
I think it's all about timing though.

I guess being a 6'11" athletic center helps too, I only upgrade my defensive rebound to 85, all the other attributes you mention I just keep a default value, it works fine enough for me.
