When the patch arrives, hopefully addressing issues with sliders/schemes/accelerated clock etc in CCM, will the issues remain in existing online CCM's? I get that impression as people are saying that they are waiting for the next patch before starting their CCM's but it sounds strange to me.

Maybe I missed something in the other threads.......so it's not just me? Schemes were still not saving after the second patch?

In more recent games they have generally stated that current franchises (CCM etc) will work fine after the patch. Looman tweeted a comment saying this RE: the Oct patch. You never know though, sometimes things get hairy and you just have to restart.

Check the main thread on the CCM patch, the updates will work in all existing CCMs. No need to restart....

I asked Josh Looman on twitter shortly after the announcement of the October 16 patch and he told me you "would not have to restart for the changes to effect but would for some stuff like "Starting with a custom roster" (which should be obvious). i am pretty sure he said that just to cover hisself though and everything else will be applied to existing leagues OK.
