Offensive approach needs changing?

The more and more I play NHL 13, the less I think of it. In NHL 12 I felt that most games were different, even if just by a little bit. So far in NHL 13 I don't feel that this is the case.

My offence is really struggling. Every goal that I see scored either by me or by the A.I. is one of two things. Either a what the hell was that goal, or a snipe into the upper corner of the net. I cannot score low, get deflections or any type of garbage goals. I can barely get the cpu goalie to give up any type of rebounds and even when they do, my player gets checked to the ice immediately. The CPU however gets all sorts of nice juicy rebounds and my effort to check them is met with my user controlled player just looking like an idiot. My grinders don't grind, and my bangers don't bang. When I get into the offensive zone on the half boards or behind the net, my AI players just stand there right next to the CPU's players and look at me. If the puck ever happens to remotely get near them they are immediately taken to the ice. I can't get them to screen to goalie to save my life. Don't even get me started on my lack of offense on power play. Not only do penalties get called, but the ones that do get called are atrocious. High sticking with no stick contact with any player, goalie interference that doesn't touch the goalies, interference penalties from shoving a stationary player, it's horrible. No matter what strategy I use, I cannot get my AI players to do anything productive. I'm at a loss as what to do to get my team scoring. What am I doing wrong and why are my AI players so stupid? In NHL 12 if I was down at least I could dial up my offence to at least get good chances. Help!

I use tuner 1.01 and I see alot of goal variety. Actually saw a goal the other night where a defenceman nailed a hard slapper low, the goalie got a piece of it, but it trickled through under him and he even dove back trying to glove it but it crossed the line first and the goal counted. Was pretty awesome and looked very realistic.

I also just cannot score. I was someone who scored an awful lot of cross-crease and one-timer goals in NHL12, and have struggled to completely retool my offense with the new "improvements".

I get that the way to win now is just to snipe corners, but whenever I play CPU or human opponents, it seems as though they are able to do this from pretty much anywhere and score at will. My friends are easily scoring 8-10 goals a game on Pro and Allstar just by doing this.

However when I do it, I get nowhere. My last two games I have thrown 70+ shots at the goalie and gotten 1 goal, which was a garbage goal down low off a deflection totally by chance. There's clearly got to be some magic to it, but whenever I ask them they just say "deke and snipe", which is what I do. I've experienced with Overload and Crash The Net, but neither really seems to help me out at all.

I'm pretty much at the tipping point where I might take the game back for $30 special trade in while that offer still lasts, because it's simply not a fun game with the new offensive strategies.
