Message to SCEA

I've been a baseball fan since I can remember , and baseball still stands as one one of the last classic and traditional sports left on the planet . It just feels so at home when your watching games . Now moving on to my point , I've recentley purchased Madden 13 and to be honest I was very dissapointed , I also played the Nba 2k13 demo and was also dissapointed. I can't seem to understand the direction in which these games are going , they are all starting to look cartoonish (at least for Madden) and unrealistic . Their gameplay and modes are feeling more like a "video game" rather than real life/simmulation . SCEA I ask that you stay true to your colors of realism and don't turn arcade like the examples just mentioned . Yes , evolve and improve every year but keep the same idea/logic. Thanks for creating this incredible franchise .

Best Wishes ,
Avid The Show Fan

I was never a huge baseball fan, but took a chance on this game 3-4 years ago. The "realism" of this game and the ease of it, made me appreciate baseball more. There's something about this game that makes me excited to buy new version year after year. And maybe that's just it....they haven't lost their "realism". They seem to keep evolving with it. And like the TC said, I hope they continue.

The Show is as close to the real thing as it gets. Some of the presentation aspects are aging but it is still outstanding...

I would like to see fatigue for base runners after several pick-off attempts. Wouldn't also mind implementing an argument feature like MVP had years ago...That was a cool feature.

Agree with everything above, however, I think it may just be the fact that baseball is the sport most conducive for translation into a video game. Think about this: a baseball video-game much like the real thing stresses numbers and statistics. Also, the main "action" component of the game is timing and accuracy of an indicator for the bat/pitch and following up with a button. Other sports involve more body interaction and tangling of limbs, etc. I think this is why there are so many great baseball, tennis, soccer, hockey, and even golf games and people tend to find flaws in basketball or football where limbs, fingers, and digits of all sorts are involved and physics and other minute details are so important.

i agree with you to a point. but it can also be argued that all sports are about numbers and statistics.

major flaws in those other games is that they become overly too complicated for pure animation based game engines. it is good that both madden and fifa have gone to physics based engines, but even then it is still like putting a band aid on a broken leg. imo these games should start off hard so the player is trained into understanding the flow of the game.

lets use ncaa football as an example. when the player picks an offensive style, the game should teach them the concepts of the plays to improve their game. so if i want to go air raid offense, then they should be teaching me mesh and other shallow passing concepts. instead i learn how to manipulate the game because the ai doesnt know how to play certain coverages.

like was saying before, the game should be difficult. for example, if my qb has a high accuracy rating, say 95+, i should only be completing around 65% of my passes tops. i should be missing passes just because i cant find or accurately hit my target. instead you have db's breaking up passes and receivers completely wiffing on basic passes, just so the game hits the status quo of dropped or missed passes.

i cant really go into detail about other games, but i hope you get my point.

the show is great not because they may not have the most challenges replicating baseball, but because you can see the heart and soul this development team puts into their work. year after year, they make us feel like kids again and it never gets old.
