Bengerman's All-Pro Slider Set

Hey guys, I'll preface this by saying that I'm not one to build sliders and test them heavily. Normally I'll use some kind of combination of SEC's set and Jarrod's, but obviously, the sliders are pretty messed up this year for whatever reason. Anyway, I started off using the All-Pro default technique but as with most people on here, there were just a few things I couldn't look past (too many user sacks, INT's, etc.) so I started tweaking. Eventually I got a set that gives me both a terrific challenge and a solid overall game from the CPU.

Another thing I'd like to mention before I post the set, is that I really believe that more than ever, you have to find a set that works for you. There is so much give and take with the sliders this year, that you really have to ask yourself what you want out of the CPU, and what you are willing to give up to get it. Try the sliders out (or don't), and just try and have fun with the game. I know we are all programmed to tweak ever little thing we see until our brains blow up, but try and find a good fit for you and just run with it. I'll post stats to my games as I play, feel free to do the same!

USER:

QBA (15)
Pass Block (50)
WR Catching (50)
Broken Tackles (50)
Run Blocking (50)
Fumbles (30)
PDRT (50)
Interceptions (25)
Pass Rushing (50)
RDRT (45)
Block Shedding (35)
Tackling (15)

CPU:

QBA (53)
Pass Blocking (60)
WR Catching (55)
Broken Tackles (50)
Run Blocking (100)
Fumbles (35)
PDRT (50)
INTs (50)
Pass Rushing (50)
PDRT (50)
Block Shedding (50)
Tackling (40)

Penalties:

ALL DEFAULT. This is important, as I've noticed that whenever I try and turn them up, even marginally, the CPU can no longer run the ball. Whether its placebo, or whatever, the CPU just seems to run the ball better without penalties jacked up. Like I said, give and take.

Gameplay:

Q. Length (15:00)
Difficulty (All-Pro)
Threshold (50)
Speed (Slow)
Playcalling (Conventional)

House Rules:

There is only one. No switching players after the play has started on defense. Other than that, you should be free to play the game however you'd like.

Bengerman's Jags Franchise

Year One (4-6)
  • So far I've had Losses against the Vikings (30-24), Texans (31-10), Colts (26-23), Raiders (30-9), Packers (38-20), and Colts (26-20).
  • I've had Wins against the Bengals (26-21), Bears (23-20), Lions (30-27), and Texans (23-18).
  • Most games have been pretty close, other than the two times I was blown out by the Packers and Raiders.
  • Here are the stats to my last three games, all of which played just about perfectly for me.

Re: Bengerman's All-Pro Slider Set

The sliders I came up with last night are very similar to yours, except I have made changes to the penalty sliders. I'm curious, with all the penalties on default, are you seeing a decent amount of penalties called?

Unfortunately, not really. About four or five a game. The real reason for keeping them at default, is because it seems like moving them somehow disrupts the way the O-Line blocks. Since I like the ratings to mean as much as possible (and usually, keeping the sliders close to default does this), I probably won't jack up the penalty sliders until I know for sure they have no effect on gameplay.

The penalty thing is the last thing I haven't tried. Seeing another reliable vet post about has me sold on giving it a solid go

Yeah, I'd give it a try at the very least. Like I said, the sliders clearly don't work how they should, so I think the best fix for now (hoping they patch the sliders to work more in CCM) is to just keep the sliders as close to default as possible.

FWIW, that last game I played against Houston had default penalties. Foster was almost impossible to stop at times.

I think a mistake I made, and probably a few others as well, is I got the game and immediately changed settings without playing a single game first. Next year I'm starting on default first and adjusting from there

Yeah, I do that with NCAA every year. This year, the demo was so good for me on default All-Pro I just kind of stuck with that.

Unfortunately, its not so much a credit to EA for nailing the game out of the box (as say, MLB: The Show does), but rather creating sliders that are really incomprehensible in terms of what they do and their effect on the game. Still, I've enjoyed this Madden more than any other football game since '06. If EA does get a patch in to make the game play like Play-Now on CCM, things would be golden for me.
