A big thankyou to all who had some input on these, especially tsp120 and steven547.
If you are a coach moder you will love these.

First off, let me say EA Canada have done a sterling job ofthis year’s game. This is, in my humble opinion, the best NHL edition by a mile.

I love to play coach mode; always have, no matter what the game. I have played and coached a number of sports myself so it goes without saying that I look for statistics and gameplay to be as realistic as possible. Although I am a first time slider maker I am looking to pursue full sim style sliders.

This year the foundation of NHL 13’s gameplay is fairly sound so no major overhaul of the sliders should be needed as nothing appears“broken” beyond repair other than the obvious lack of penalties (Hopefully this will be remedied in the next patch).

Thanks to mkharsh33 for allowing me to use his sliders as a base to work from. I have a few guys who have already indicated their interest in helping to test this set in order to develop a tight coach mode edition, but all feedback is welcomed.


Note: I have seen no evidence to make me think that there is any bias towards the human or cpu team in coach mode. The gameplay and stats back this up. Therefore the SLIDERS ARE THE SAME SETTINGS FOR BOTH HUMAN AND CPU.

I am getting games with too many shots. league average was high 20's to early 30s for most teams last year. I like the idea of lowering gamespeed to compensate but am wary it makes the game look a little unatural.

i will test them out tonight son just got home from school so he already snatched the tv

i am working home so should plenty of time to test em out

Ha! I just kick my daughter into the other living room if I want to get on the xbox.

Really annoyed at how bad the game looks when speed is reduced to lower SOG.

Only played one game, but here are my results:

I decided to do what I did last year and start with one of the best teams in the league vs the worst.

PITT (me) vs Columbus

Goals: 4 -1
Shots: 31 - 34
TOA: 6:59 - 7:42
PIM: 2 - 0

3 Stars:
Fleury
Cooke
Malkin

Seems to play pretty well. If shots are too high, I would suggest just turning the clock to 9 min periods....or decreasing gamespeed a notch. Overall, so far so good...

Just hoping EA fixes the Penalty issue. If they do, be aware that shot totals might increase due to powerplays.

yeah i think 2 was hard for me when playing it 3 seemed good speed wise but resulted in too many shots of course

Fiance has the tv and I don't feel like making her watch me play since I'm going to have most of tomorrow to myself. But I'm running a game in the background, CPU vs CPU. I can't imagine that's much different than Coach mode. I'm going to run three games with the same teams, with game speed set to 2, 1 and 0 and I'll post the results.

As I said in another thread, I think the game looks fine at game speed of 0, but I think we're just going to have to agree to disagree on that one.

Just thought of something. What if gamespeed was low but acceleration was bumped u? That would make the behind the net/neutral zone play ok but the fast breaks would still look authentic whilst still keeping the shot count lower. I'll try this over the next few games.
