I need help...bad...

OK, I have played probably 30 game and won one game. I am lucky to score 1 goal a game. I played it on rookie and that was too easy. Moved up to pro and stumped. I have messed with sliders suggested on the site, but it still is the same thing over and over. Cannot score, cpu scores weak goals, everything from the point seems to go in on a crazy tip and I cannot get past the D who stands in the middle of the ice and if you go wide seems to take a stride and steals the puck.

I tried cycling but my guys seems to stand in front of the net and not move, I changed strategies. Also I have tried passing in and around the CPU zone and bang turnover. I obviously am missing something here.

PLEASE HELP! Yes I am semi new to the game as I played NHL 12 a bunch last year and with same results.

Practice, practice, practice! My advice:

Try playing around in the practice mode. Try different shots, skating, etc.

During the game, tweak your sliders. Lower your AI Learning slider and decrease the CPU Goalie Reaction slider. Also, start by lowering the CPU Aggression slider. Those should help get you started. Just practice on those until you get good, then increase each slider a notch. After awhile, you'll be saying the game is too easy!

Are you shooting manually? I'm not that great at the game yet, and use auto as opposed to manual aiming and have pretty good success.

Hey all,

I'm a longtime player of the NHL series and this year in particular I'm having the damnedest time winning a game. My guys are slow, they frequently make stupid decisions such as checking someone instead of going after a loose puck, and my goalie (Tuukka Rask) seems unable to stop anything. In addition, frequently it feels like I'm shorthanded as I'm completely unable to regain control of the puck sometimes for a minute or more as the CPU dances around with it. I play on All-Star, currently with no sliders or adjustments. I took this video earlier to illustrate what exactly I'm talking about:

That goal in my opinion is really soft. That very game the CPU also rallied in the last 20 seconds of the game to score two goals and defeat me. It's one thing to lose, but I also feel as though I'm being cheated in the process.

OH MAN! Totally! The amount of pure junk that I have seen go in makes it like the goalie is out to lunch!

Work on getting the puck into the slot area. From there take a shot towards the corners of the net.
Or knock it down to the pro level and work on playmaking then jump back up to allstar when you start to see how the computer reacts to different situations. Usually they are scripted and you can then count on them reacting the same way in similar situations..

Or maybe its because you are playing with the Bruins..

Re: I need help...bad...

Well I was messing with sliders and played a game against Edmonton and won like 5-3. It was 5-1 and I thought well this is too easy and half way left in the 3rd switched to Brodcast just to try it out and then they scored two easy goals.

After the game I moved up Cpu difficulty one, and the next two games proceeded to get my butt kicked by Phoenix 4-1 and Anahiem 3-0. It actually seemed really fake how easy they were scoring and dominating me. I am wondering how is it that all my players are slower than the CPU and his guys never run of juice and just keep going and going. My players are stupid when it comes to net play, no tips or clearing guys out yet the cpu can tip in everything and I cannot get down low....

I mean the point shots are getting me so angry its not funny. You can tell that every time it comes from the point its a crazy tip, and yes I do know how to block shots.

I hear you. Played a game against the CPU on pro, first 3 shots for them were goals. All of them from a ways out. I cant score to save my life, the D just crowds the net for the CPU. But every CPU possession is an odd man rush no matter what. Ugh, frustrating because I would like to get good at the game, but it feels like the game is rigged in favor of the cpu.
