Lots of tackles. Few big hits.

There is A LOT of good things about this version of Madden. The downside is I do not get the feeling of violent football. My HS coach would call this "patty cake" due to all of the arm tackling.

Backbreaker has tremendous flaws but running animations and the feeling of on the field violence was not one of them. Players could litterally get lit up in Backbreaker. Not the case in Madden.

Anyone else feel this way?

For the humans, maybe.

The CPU gets a hit stick every 9 out of 10 hits they put on me.

I disagree. Dont'a Hightower and Brandon Spikes lay the wood everytime they tackle someone.

Too often the ball carrier and defender tend to just run into each other and fall down. As another poster described: it looks like crash dummies colliding. Not enough wrap ups IMO.

I have to say that Im having no problem playing hard hitting
defense. Forcing fumbles and hitting guys who are wrapped up.
Finally feels like you can actually play defense this year.
And as the IE becomes more and more refined, its only going to
get better.

I agree that the gang tackling play/animations were done really well this year. It seems like the open field or 1 on 1 tackles leave a lot to be desired though. Sometimes on an outside run my Dlineman will get penetration and just slam into the RB causing them both to collapse.

I totally agree there is PLENTY of room for improvement.
A lot of people will probably disagree with what Im about to say
but I think the demo handled some of these things better than retail.
Understand I do like the way the retail has been "tightened" up however
I think in doing so there was some stuff lost.
Then again I could be wrong...

Sounds a lot like the modern NFL.
