After a shutout win over a FCS cupcake in week 1, Western Kentucky went into Tuscaloosa with dreams of pulling off the upset over #9 Alabama. The key to this game was Alabama HB Eddie Lacy, plus a couple of deep Bama passes. Every time the Hilltoppers had Bama stopped on 3rd and long, Lacy would start breaking tackles. He had 20 carries for 92 yards and broke 9 tackles. WKU had a solid 1st half, going into the break down 17-12. QB Kawaun Jakes was 9/15 for 150 yards at the time... however, the Hilltoppers got desperate in the 2nd half and went to the pass too often. Jakes ended the day 15/33 for 299 yards and 1 crucial INT, and he also ran the ball 9 times for 31 yards and both of the Hilltoppers TD's. Across the sideline, Bama QB AJ McCarron went 13/23 for 287 yards, 1td and 2int's. In the end, Western Kentucky fell to Alabama, 24-18.
