Want to get your opinion on something

Okay so I am a big fan of making the roster moves as realistic as possible, and I was wondering as I head into the off season with my franchise, if you guys think this is fair; I turn on CPU roster editing and then at the end of the season I release guys like Josh Hamilton, Michael Bourn, Brandon McCarthy, Edwin Jackson, etc just so that the off season is as real as it could possibly be. I was just looking to see if you guys/girls think that it's fair to do that? and another question, does anybody know if you can fire other teams managers in the off season, like the Astros recently fired manager

If you wanted to manually release all the players so that they become free agents, keep in mind that the teams will be on the hook for their salary. Why not just edit their contracts to make them free agents?

I've tried this before but the team always end up resigning them and they never get to the market, and if you release them after the postseason their previous team won't be on the hook

Well then in that case I see no problem with it.

Brings up a question I had. Is there a way to sign a player to an extension during the season or is it necessary to wait till the FA period to try to sign them again?

Yeah, well the only way I know of resigning a player, is to go into player edit and change the contract to what you want it to be

yeah, like if you want to be a penny pincher, you could sign for example Nick Markakis to a 10 year, $500 K deal so you can sign a bunch of other free agents, a la 1980s yankees.

Re: Want to get your opinion on something

Sorry to hijack... but I have a question about contracts...

Is there any way to sign a player to a tiered contract or are they all fixed rate contracts?

IE: when you sign someone to a 500K yearly 5 year deal... they get exactly 500K each year for a total of 2.5 million.

But in real life often contracts are tiered... so 200K year 1, 300K year 2, 400K year 3....etc etc etc.

Is there any way to do this? When I look at contracts in the game, many are tiered. But I dont see a way to set up tiered contacts myself.
