New to FIFA- season help

Ok, so i am fairly new to FIFA. Haven't owned one for 10 years or more, but had fun with it back in the day. Obviously it is going to be a lot more in-depth. I've been watching soccer occasionally over the past 3 years. I understand a lot about the sport, but it's the off-season stuff that i get confused on. I kind of understand the transfer/loan system, but not 100%. That is my background.

I want to get FIFA 12 bc i hear it's amazing, but i am going to wait until 13. Does within the game or season modes, do they explain the process of some of these details like paying for transfers, etc? The only thing i understand about the EPL is how the bottom teams drop a division and a couple teams can move up. Besides that, there are a ton of other leagues, etc that i really dont know about. Am i going to be completely lost trying to play a manager mode, or will this help me along some?

I am pretty excited to start playing soccer games again as i think it will take more strategy than the hockey/football games ive been playing recently. A lot of those games other players rely on gimmicks/glitches and even the computer isnt very smart. From what ive read about FIFA, this seems to have some of the best AI opponenets and makes it fun.

Well mate, all football leagues have the same system of promotion and relegation although in FIFA not all the lower tiers are in the game. I think La Liga and the Premier League are the only two with their lower leagues.

As for the transfer window stuff, I don't think their is a guide but it's pretty simple and you should pick it up farily quickly. ****ing hell, If you yanks can understand salary caps, luxury tax, waives and the lot I don't see how you can't understand loans and transfers

i wouldnt go as far as saying it has some of the best ai opponents but the game itself is alot of fun and i feel it has alot of replay value.

what do you not understand about transfers? its really easy, you pay a transfer fee to another club for the right to negotiate a contract with the player you want. if you cannot sign the player then they stay with their current team and no transfer fee is paid. you can only transfer during the two transfer windows.

Honestly FIFA's A.I is pretty bad. Although reports are that it's vastly improved in this years game.

lol you are right, our offseason with caps and taxes gets too confusing. italian and german leagues also have the lower divisions.

Yeah I thought that's pretty straight forward

Re: New to FIFA- season help

I got ya. Thanks for the help. It's basically being able to negotiate with any player then during two seperate time windows. Essentially, this makes every player available from anyone, but for a price. I got it.
