What's the point in even playing with Timing or Pure Analog hitting?

Too much is taken out of your hands. I just had an AB where I had perfect stride and swing... and got a just missed. WTF? I might as well just sim everything because it doesn't matter what I do, it is all about VIS and Clt rating...

I am playing on Pure Analog because I'm not good enough to play with Zone Plus. If I do every thing perfect, the game should not say "Well, screw you, you're missing this pitch just because."

This game will drive a man to drink... I swear.

I like Timing (and Classic pitching) because it emphasizes player ratings. And thus, the game becomes less about my (diminishing) stick skills and more about my decision-making skills - both on the field and in the front office.

But that's one of the great things about this series - there's so many different ways to play the game.

Meh, when I'm playing a video game... and I make the right decision and execute a perfect swing... I expect to at least get the bat on the ball.

Meh? So your way is the only way? Different strokes for different folks, he already explained to you why he likes to play the way he does. Your way is no better for him than his way is for you. Is that hard to understand?

That's what makes The Show so great, it's got something for everyone. Not sure what it is with kids obsessions as to why the way they do things has to be the "right" and "only" way.

I never bashed his view. I just think, IMO, when I execute a PERFECT swing (which is difficult in this game) then I should at least put the ball in play... and it is maddening when you whiff on a pitch down the middle with perfect swing and stride.

Is that really worth trying to start something over?

Which is why your reaction to his opinion started with "Meh", and then an explanation why your way is better.
