EDIT: This was originally for NCAA 13, but I have tested the draft classes again and it is the very same in NCAA 14.

I was curious about how the Draft works on this game so in the past few days chicagopax and I have run some test and recorded the results.

Basically, the draft just goes in order of the players OVR rating. The individual ratings or stats don't matter at all from what I can tell.


However, there are a few variables. First, size plays a big role. If a player isn't big enough, he will not be drafted. Second, only so many players are drafted per position. For example, the best 11 quarterbacks who meet the size restriction are drafted. After that no QBs are drafted no matter what their OVR is.


We also found a glitch in the game. No defensive tackles are being drafted. Size and ratings mean nothing. We have yet to see a single DT be drafted.


Here are the basic rules we found.

No QB 6’0 or shorter OR under 200 lbs is drafted


HB
18 per class
No HB 5'9 or shorter is drafted
I haven't found an exact weight limit yet. 175 and bigger will be drafted though.


FB
3 per class
No FB under 220 lbs is drafted



WR
28 per class
No WR 5'9 or shorter is drafted
I haven't found an exact weight limit yet. 175 and bigger will be drafted though.


TE
14 per class
No TE 6’1 or shorter OR under 220 lbs will be drafted


OT
19 per class (We got 21 OTs in one class. Not sure why. Every other position was the same in every sim.)



OG
13 per class
No OG under 280 lbs will be drafted


C
6 per class



DE
21 per class
No DE 5’11 or shorter OR under 245 lbs is drafted



DT
17 per class
no DT 274 lbs or smaller is being drafted




OLB
20 per class
No LB 5’9 or shorter OR under 225 lbs is drafted



MLB
8 per class
No LB 5’9 or shorter OR under 225 lbs is drafted



CB
23 per class
No CB 5'8 or shorter OR under 170 lbs is drafted



S
10 FS and 10 SS per class
No S 5'9 or shorter OR below 185 lbs is drafted



K/P
2 K and 2 P per class

Hopefully this explains why certain players are being drafted/not drafted and what round they are going in.

It matters in recruiting because your "Pro Potential" pitch is directly influenced by how many players you have drafted.

We had seen some people mention that they had a top player go undrafted and wanted to try to figure out why that was happening.

Ultimately, it really isn't huge but I thought it was interesting and thought I would post what I found for anyone interested.

I had done something similar before I did my rosters. I had not realized the height weight thing. Very good find!

Just found out about it too LOL. But yeah it does suck that you can't import draft classes. Especially since I didn't start playing Dynasty mode until this year's installment -_-.

How could you play NCAA Football without playing Dynasty?
