Possible to get realistic CPU Passing on Varsity?

I've been trying my best to get realistic passing out of the CPU on varsity, but thus far the CPU can't seem to get it right. The play selection seems poor and the CPU tends to hold the ball way too long. I'm even giving the CPU 100 on QB Rating and Receiving and putting the human coverage and interceptions at 0 and the CPU can't pass the ball. (I've also tried with CPU on 100 and Human settings at default).

I can get realistic play out of the CPU running game, even seeing them get 5+ yards a carry, and I can get them to play defense enough that driving down the field isn't a cakewalk. I'd love to find a way to boost the passing.

Tried ILiveForThis and Authentics settings and the same deal: CPU can't pass.

Might just be that varsity is impossible to balance. First year I've tried to balance it, but I love the fact that the CPU doesn't actually know the play before it is run.
