The things 2k12 did right and don't need to be overhauled.

Well we all know that devs like to overhaul features, controls and gameplay. That's fine, but most of the time things are changed and it makes the game worse in that area, changing the d-pad for example. But these are the things I feel shouldn't be touched too much.

1. Isomotion- It took me months to master the new isomotion system, and when I did I was pulling off jaw dropping plays. 2k made dribbling fun again,
Ways to improve
Add slow and fast crossovers, for example LT would be the slow crossover modifier, this will give the player a different set off crosses, between the legs, regular cross, step backs; basically slower crossovers that will help set up drives or pull-up jumpers, While(not the best control scheme) LT+RT will be the explosive crosses. Think of it as the driving crosses. Also combo-ing should be apart of isomotion next year, in and out-behind the back, between the legs-behind the back etc. Also don't change the reaction type system you have.

The post offense-probably the best improvement from 2k11. The magic you can do in the post is beautiful, we could basically replicate a real life players post game.
Ways to improve- Improve the face up moves, driving across the lane had limited shots and combo's. Need moves that give better separation, Need to add more physical moves, should have more banging moves basically, make the hook shot faster, and shorten it. Should be able to throw a hook up if I'm stopped not take a jumper. The hook shot should be accessible is what I'm saying. Adding better pivoting, separate the good from the great with pivot shots and moves. Please add a post offense triple threat system, the triple threat has always been neglected. But it has to be expanded in 2k13.

3. Escape dribbles or Pull up jumpers.
Great system, great combo's that can be create with isomotion moves.
Ways to improve
Sometimes your player did a step back or move that was soo slow. Speed the moves up and give us the move we want. So if I press LT+ Left I want a move that will just take me left no step back.

4. Shot blocking.
Now I'm not saying it is perfect, but when you get the timing down. You can get some amazing blocks. Great ball tracking tech.
Ways to improve
first of all little guards unless they are Russell Westbrook or Derrick rose shouldn't be blocking dunks. That's a rating issue. Stop delaying the animation, this really has to do with timing but we shouldn't have those double jumping plays that happen in 2k12.

5. Intense Defense speeds.
Great great great addition, I thought it was brilliant bring speed into the defensive sliding. It works great if you know how to cut off angles and if you know how to properly change speeds.
Ways to improve
Fix the collision system, even I would slid right into position but it wouldn't be recognized by the game. Add different animations, allow the user to use he's hands as in striping the ball on a jumper, going for steals during a drive, and allow use to use hands up while riding the offensive player.

Again this is not a wish list, but just letting 2k know what they shouldn't get rid of or change to much, admit it or not but 2k12 did a lot of things right. Post your list if you want to.

Classic teams. Only way I'd overhaul that is by adding even MORE classic teams to go along with the ones we have now.

Excellent post. I hope 2k sees this somehow.

I would also add the graphics are something that doesn't need anymore improvements from now until the next gen of consoles. The player faces are better than ever, the ball itself has proper textures, and even the lighting/shadowing is much improved.

Pretty good post. About the post game, is it just me or are the hook shots basically a low % shot? I have a lot of trouble scoring with hook shots despite having Roy Hibbert and LaMarcus Aldridge as my frontcourt. My % of hook shots made should be something like 15% and I'm not kidding. I find way more easy to score an up and under ala Hakeem Olajuwon or a 15 ft contested turnaround jumpers than a simple hook shot 3 feet away from the rim.

But like I said, maybe is just me?

I agree with all of this for the most part. I think they should speed up the transistions in between some of the iso moves and allow the dribbler to drive around the defender a little more easier/faster, not everyone should have shut down defense in iso situations

I also think they should bring back the defense lock on system they had back in 2K9-2K10, only to make more people use player defense and not just sit in zone with a big man under the hoop or in a passing lane all game. I think there should be more of a consequence for players who do this instead of letting the CPU shift around doing all of the work

Its not just you I agree the hook shot is almost useless while the fade away jumpers are almost unstoppable there should be more balance between each move and the player that does it. Also there should be a way to take bank-shot jumpers/hook shots, or is there already a way?

No it's not you, they have a really small window for a release point and it varies depending on the move, example there is a spin to hook shot move, but the release point is really small.

For bank shots, I think they should bring back LT+ X or O but just tap LT instead of holding it before you shoot. Idk how well that can work. Also to your point of driving, while I was doing some experimenting and I see what 2k was trying to do with 2k12 isomotion system. The problem is that they really didn't explain it too much.

Basically it's a reaction base system, it would be a lot easier for me to show you than to type it
Spoiler
. I'm going to make a real dribbling tutorial and explain the isomotion system this year. It's really deep. I'm just waiting to upgrade my PC and record it with fraps. But this applies to consoles as well.

The reason why we need two different dribbling sets, it gives us a bigger range of dribbling moves. Can replicate real life ball handlers like derrick rose and Chris Paul. I really hope 2k sees this as well. Please continue to contribute ideas of improving the great things 2k12 did.
