Auto-subs in Manager Mode?

So I bought FIFA 12 about a week ago, and it is the first FIFA game I have ever owned. I don't know too much about soccer, but I have already picked up a little bit of how the contracts, transfers, scouting, and all that work. But if I play a game, are auto-subs automatically on? Or is there a way I can turn them on? Like I said, I don't know much about soccer, so I would really rather just play than have to worry about subbing.

Re: Auto-subs in Manager Mode?

Subs in soccer works like baseball. If you're used to football, hockey, or basketball, you're in for a big change. In soccer, like in baseball, once a sub comes in hes in for the rest of the game. For this reason, there is no such thing as auto-subs.

In soccer you have eleven starters and a seven player bench. You can only bring in three subs over the course of a game(you can change this in settings, but three subs is how its played in real games).

There are four reasons to bring in a sub-

1. Injury- If a player on the pitch gets injured and has to come off, you'll have to bring in a player off of the bench to replace him.

2. Card violations- Two yellow cards equal a red card, so if a player gets two yellow cards in one match, he'll be sent off for that match and be suspended for the next match. So, if one of your players gets a yellow, you might want to think about bringing someone in in his place to avoid him getting a second yellow.

3. Fatigue- Over the course of a match, players get tired. I usually look at my team at halftime to check who is getting tired, and then monitor from there. The more tired a player is, the more likely he is to not be able to keep up to a speedy opposition player or worse, he is more likely to be injured.

4. Need more offense/defense- If you're up by a goal and want to protect your lead, you might think about subbing out one of your attacking players for a more defensive minded substitute. Or, if you're down by a goal, you might think of doing the opposite.

Hope this helps.

if you play your career mode as a player only, you'll have auto subs. Also pes has the auto subs option if you ever decide to check out another soccer game.

Re: Auto-subs in Manager Mode?

I remember when I first started following soccer several years ago. I had always been a soccer ***** until I played a Fifa demo on Xbox Live. The game was very intense and I was hooked from there. I think this was around 2006 because when I went to Gamestop to purchase Fifa, I noticed the regular Fifa and the World Cup edition. I was clueless as to what the differences were. Ultimately, I decided on the yearly Fifa edition. I embraced Arsenal because their name was awesome. I've been a RVP fan every since. At this time, RVP was a bench player with Henry and Baptista in the starting role.

I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge about soccer just by watching soccer matches. I was so hooked in fact that I would watch soccer on the Telemundo channel. I didnt understand what the announcers were saying other that GOALLLLLLLLLLL! Now, soccer or what I now call football, is the best sport on the planet.

Good luck with your new football career. I'm sure you want be let down.
