Icon5 What Were the Major Differences Between 2K11 and 2K12??

Having played both games extensively, what were the major changes and/or improvements from 2K11 to 2K12? Is there a list that someone can reference?

I mean other than the requisite roster update and the Miami Marlins, and the presentation getting some polish; example: overlay w/ how the pithces are tracked during an AB. I cannot see/remember any of the major differences between the two titles. They are almost identical, w/ 2K12 actually regressing in some areas that 2K11 improved on or had patched.

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of fun w/ this game and am a major baseball fan, but I cannot really see how this title was more/less a glorified roster update.

I would definitely buy again, but not for $59.99 or whatever the initial retail price was. So for 2K13...update the rosters, put the Astros in the AL, and I will pay $19.99.

Well, they added MLB Today Season, although that didn't work out all that well. Dynasty sounds similar, but I think 2K12 has less bugs.

More errors in the field compared to 2K11?

I've been waiting for the price to come down before buying, but if you say there isn't much of a difference, I will just pick up 2K11.

If you can deal w/ some of the cosmetic changes not being in 2K11, i.e. Marlins still playing in ProPlayer Stadium, Free Agents not on correct teams and what not then I would say go w/ 2K11. Otherwise, I think they are basically the same game?

I have to admit, I'm a little surprised to see you making this topic, as I know you've been playing MLB 2K for a while. I feel the same way with the NCAA series.

It's virtually the same game. With the patch, the animations are much smoother now and it is generally a little less buggy than 2K11. As for game modes, you probably won't touch MLB Today Season since it not supported as advertised. My Player has received bug fixes and logic tweaks but nothing groundbreaking and Franchise is virtually unchanged. The stamina bug from last year is gone but sim logic, lineup logic, and everything else is unchanged. They did include the new wildcard format though.

I'd recommend you get it with one caveat: PC only. I don't think the series as a whole is worth more than $20 on PC and certainly no more than $20 on console. So if you can find it for cheap you should get it.

I was thinking about picking up an MLB 2k game, but I was a little confused by this part of the post. Were you saying PC was the way to go due to the modding community, or to avoid PC because 2k seems to be super slow with patching it (at least, that's my experience with NBA 2k)

Hell yes, there are so many f*ing errors, though sometimes it helps like if there are two outs and I am down by one and there are runners on second and third in the ninth and the center fielder drops the third out.

Also at gamestop, I got it for 47.50 for a NEW version

PC is the ONLY way to go IMO. Price alone makes it worth while and yes the modding community is a definite bonus. Heck, I bet having properly colored uniforms makes it worth it! The patch for 12 isn't a big deal though. They didn't fix a dang thing. They smoothed out some animations and fixed how players run to the dugout. Big deal right?
