Can you start a My Player using modded rosters or does it default to the nba 2k roster file?

I assume you're on PC. Yes, you can use modded and edited rosters in My Player.

No, I'm on xbox 360. I wanted to play the 85-6 Jazz. Malone's first year.. Dantley, Dr. Dunkenstein, T Bailey. Stockton, Eaton. I used to go to the Salt Palace and see these guys.

I guess you probably can't on xbox

It should be the same for the 360. If you have the REDitor, you can mod your My Player and the entire roster after you start a My Player save. It's great when there's crazy trades or to make future drafts more realistic.
