Regression in Madden 13

Not having seen anything on regression here or elsewhere -- any one have any idea?

My two cents would be that the new RPG style XP allotment can't permit for permanent rating gains across the board, and that this team wouldn't make that error.

For example, one way to deal with this would be that the physical traits, once a player hits 30 years old, are no longer available for upgrades. We can safely say that for most part, no one is getting faster, more agile, or stronger (this last one is certainly more debatable IRL, but play along for now) at age 30+. Those stats should not be subject to XP gains/progression. Your XP points would be available, however, to upgrade mental stats like Awareness, which is something that increases for most players over time as they age and years of film study and experience add up.

I doubt this type of thing is in the game, but I can't imagine some form of regression isn't in.

I disagree a lil bit because a player can lose weight and become lighter on their feet which makes them quicker than before

I'm pretty concerned that this hasn't been answered. I understand there's a lot of excitement and questions being thrown around, but regression is one of the most important things in a successful franchise type of mode.

I'd like to see multiple factors in dictating regression. Age, injuries, games player, times sacked or tackled, etc.

I had an idea regarding progression/regression. Implement an NFL2K5 style of practice system both during the season as well as the offseason. If you have an older player that relies on his athleticism you could tailor his training and practice around keep his physical skills at a high level. Sure, he will eventually fall off, but you could keep him playing at a high level for as long as possible.

Maybe my ideas are too lofty, lol. I just want something that is stupid deep.

Josh said in one of the videos that not meeting goals due to injury or losing playing time will cause regression.

Okay, so what are goals for a 3-4 DE? How about a LG? How about CB?

If a team doesn't throw at Revis, he won't get any stats... so he will regress?

I just don't like the removal of potential. I wish that it was just hidden like in Madden 09 and prior.
