Knuckle Curve Success?

The Knuckle Curve seems very appealing to me, but was just wondering if anyone has had any success with it?

If so what type of pitch combo did you run with it or would run with it? Either RTTS or Franchise. More so RTTS.

ie...Cutter/RFB, Two seam/CCH.

Re: Knuckle Curve Success?

For some reason it is very hittable pitch for me. To expand this question, what is the relative effectiveness of the different curveballs. I would say in order of effectiveness it is:

Curveball
Sweeping curve
12-6
Knuckle curve

Re: Knuckle Curve Success?

For my RTTS pitcher, I mainly use a 2-seam/knuckleball combo, using the knuckle-curve to get the batter to chase out of the zone on a 2-strike count.

Re: Knuckle Curve Success?

I actually have a very fun rtts sp going right now. I gave him a RFB,KNCV,and SPL to start off and added a SLD a lil down the line. It's actually a very fun pitch to use if you do it right. On my rtts i'll start a few hitters off with a KNCV right over the plate so they know I can throw it for a strike, then go inside with the RFB. After that I waste a SPL low and away or so (sometimes they'll chase this pitch expecting the KNCV again) then come back with a KNCV in the dirt or down and in.

Just different variations like this and it can be a very succesful pitch for you I throw it about 20-40 times a start in my rtts depending on how effective it is during that start.

Re: Knuckle Curve Success?

The normal curve I can spot with good ratings. a 12-6 I couldn't spot it with a 99 rating all all pitch categories, a 99 BB/9 and I got to walk it to the plate.

Re: Knuckle Curve Success?

RFB/CUT is very fun to use especially when the speed and break is in the 90s. it's too easy to set up hitters with two fastballs that move in opposite directions.

i like using a slurve, imo it doesn't hang as much as other types of curveballs would. i tried using a knuckle curve on my RTTS and i actually removed it because it kept getting rocked.
