player developing in franchise

how do you make the player developing in your franchise realistic? because the way they do it with just simulating is terrible. even the best of prospects; bryce harper, gerrit cole, after 4 years will be pretty much the same overall. thats obviously not the way it should be.

Re: player developing in franchise

That's because they were made too good to begin with. The amount of points gained per year depends on age, current OVR, and potential. Since Bryce Harper is only 19 and already a B (?) overall, he has 12 years to become an A. Because of this wonky logic, it will seem like he is hardly progressing.

I know this was done to extinguish the 2014 bug, but it was a pretty poor solution if you ask me... Players develop from 18-27, 28-33 should be stagnant, 34+ should have exponential decline. Hopefully SCEA reworks the progression system and the offseason logic next year.

It wasn't done to get rid of the 2013 bug.(not entirely anyway)
It's pretty much always been the same.
Progression has been a mish/mash of ideas that have overlapped over the years.....with not such favorable results in quite a few ways.
-No surprises
-stunted growth in some areas(do to dumbing down of growth for a few reasons)

Hopefully....we see something all new and more in depth and exciting for '13.

Training players caused them to grow too quickly....making the CPU see the younger(almost as good) players as worth more $$ than they should have been making.
This tied in with the teams not automatically resigning contract renewable players at the minimum was driving up payroll and there was no mechanism in place to drive up the budget accordingly.
So....the teams would sign the younger players until they reached max budget and then the older(known) FA's would sit on the FA list.
