Huge Green Icon?

Just started playing this for the first time and one thing that I cannot find an answer to.

What is the Giant green icon that pops up after a shot represent ? What am I supposed to do?

I think it has something to do with rebounding or a put back attempt but it doesnt last long enough for me to mash every button and figure out what is does.

Can someone please help me here I am going nuts.

that is the shot timing icon, you can turn it off through presentation. I use it though because it is helpful to me if I am having a bad shooting game.
