Jim Brown & Trent Richardson Situation

On 283 attempts alabama's Trent richardson Rushed for 1740 yards in the 2011 season along with 21 TD's But When Jim brown was asked about Richardson Brown stated he doesn't think he is all that special Brown said his Speed and Size was ordinary but in Brown's first year at Syracuse he Rushed for 439 Yards, in his second year 666 rushing yards and his last year at Syracuse he had 986 rushing yards with a total of 2091 rushing yards. richardson also played 3 season in college. he rushed for 784 yards as a freshman, 719 yards as a sophomore and 1740 yards in his last year with Alabama and with a total of 3243 yards he had over a thousand more yards than Jim brown in college. so if we judged a player's entire Career of his college statistics then Richardson would be the better player, and thats exactly what jim brown is doing when he says he thinks Richardson is just a ordinary Running back. for example coming out of college Jim brown wasnt the best Rb/Fb what if Hall of fame Running back Harold Edward "Red" Grange said that Brown wouldnt be special? of course The future would prove him wrong but it would be the same situation as brown and richardson but what im saying is that Brown will eat his words just like Harold "Red" Grange would have if he would have made that statement, Richardson was the better College player and i dont see why he wont be just as succesful in the NFL. but what do YOU think?

All it does is continue to speak to the apparently enormous ego and narcissism that seems to be part of Jim Brown.

I have no problem with Jim Brown said. He has the right to an opinion. I completely disagree and think Richardson will have an Adrian Peterson type impact.

Last year a lot of people took offense when I said Mark Ingram would be a bust and was just an average running back. You have to call it like you see it. If that's how Mr. Brown sees it then that's on him.

He's the only offensive weapon on that pitiful Browns offense. Squarely put: Trent Richardson is going to HAVE to be special if he intends to succeed. I just can't imagine the guy excelling on a roster completely void of offensive talent, a rookie QB who will be too old before the team is even competitive, and a division that makes its living on stout defense.

Re: Jim Brown & Trent Richardson Situation

I don't think Brown is saying he can't end up having a good career, he's just not impressed and doesn't see it. He does have an ego, but the guy also played in an era where RB's were far more essential (and physical) than they are now...I don't think it should be easy to impress a guy of Jim Brown's caliber. Also, for the record, Brown doesn't seem to be judging Richardson on stats, he's talking about what he sees (or doesn't see) in his running. That doesn't mean he can't be wrong though.

As for how Richardson will perform in the NFL, I don't think it's as easy as looking at college success, making a direct comparison and then saying it will translate. That said, in my very amateur observation, I see nothing to suggest he can't be successful in the NFL. I think he could turn out to be truly great and I also think he'll make an impact early.

yeah i just really hope that Trent Richardson doesn't do what Barry Sanders did, because the browns OL isn't as good and they don't have a sure Quarterback in Brandon Weeden because he's like 30 already! and Barry Retired because of the QB switches and I'm afraid that Trent is gonna go through some QB changes Also.

Re: Jim Brown & Trent Richardson Situation

I'm a Browns fan and respect the hell out of what Brown did for us back in the day.

That being said, he's a bitter old man now, who didn't even acknowledge when his own rushing records fell (first by Payton, then by Emmett)

He's known to just genuinely hate the world. Like the grouchy old man in your neighborhood who cusses at everybody passing by.

So I really don't care what he has to say. He still sounds like the bitter old man who has trouble accepting his time has long passed.

Need I remind everyone he retired in his prime to pursue a movie career? So in actuality, besides being known as one of the greatest RB's in history, he did nothing for Cleveland. (I don't think Richardson has acting in his sights...)
