D-League Question (in Assoc.)

Ok, I did search, and found nothing...if I missed it, please point me in the right direction. But I have a question, is there any real purpose to D-League in Association mode? If so, could someone explain how to maximize it's usage? Thank you!

Re: D-League Question (in Assoc.)

Lots of playing time for some decent draft picks that are a year (or two) away. As opposed to sitting on the bench behind your superstars and not really playing all that much (fill the bench with scrubs)?

Timed right, you then have another talent waiting when contracts run out?

In theory anyway...

I never actually knew the answer to this..

If you send a player to the D-League, do they gain stats/potential? Does them having playing time in the development league actually make them better?

I just send them there if I don't want to trade or release them and they are complaining about minutes.

i dont think it actually helps. if they have potential, they will improve regardless though.

its just a good way to stash young prospects on your roster for the future.

I just use it to evaluate talent on draft picks and to give guys some playing time and to see what they can do without risking my rotations and giving up losses

Well it depends if the rookie is averaging 30 mpg then it's useless but if you have some rookies not playing much yes it's a good idea because they get more playing time and more potential is tapped into.

Thank you for the answers...I wasn't sure if it worked how it was supposed to or what. So I definitely appreciate the answers.

thats how it works in real life.

in the game, your player will improve at the same rate whether he is playing 30 minutes a game in the D league or riding your bench in the nba.
