MLB roster made up of NBA players

So I had a random thought, "How would NBA stars do in the MLB?" To this thought, I decided that I was going to create every single player that was an NBA all-star this last season, into a MLB player in MLB 12 The Show. The number is exactly 25, so it works out perfectly. At this point, I'm just thinking about what the strengths each player would have in the MLB. 2 of the 25 all-stars, Chris Bosh and Blake Griffin, played baseball in high school, both as first basemen, I was wondering, for those of you who like the NBA too, who would play what position and what strengths would they have? The hardest part for me is assigning pitchers, as I need about half of them to be pitchers if I want a real team.

Re: MLB roster made up of NBA players

Just did a bunch of research on Blake Griffin and these are my scouting notes:

Position: First base

-Good ball-handling ability
-Good spin moves
-Poor free throw shooting
-Stupendous rebounder, great will to win and drive
-Stamina = alright, not good
-Alright defense
-Good basketball IQ
-Very quick
-Very strong
-Great court vision

To me, this translates to (in baseball):

-Good at getting to the baseball defensively
-Good IQ, so good batter's eye
-His poor free throw shooting might translate to being poor in the clutch
-His will to win translates to what stat?
-Stamina being below average would obviously affect his stamina skill
-His average defense will account to an average throwing arm
-His quickness will make him fast, unusual for a first baseman
-His strength will obviously make him a home run hitter
-His court vision will add to his accuracy at throwing the baseball

Any more comments or questions or ideas?

Re: MLB roster made up of NBA players

Just did a bunch of research on Chris Bosh and these are my scouting notes:

Position: First base
-Poor from 3-point
-Good free-throw
-Average passer
-Not good at steals
-OK perimeter defender
-Great post defender
-Very strong
-Averagely quick

To me, this translates to (in baseball):
-Not a very accurate or strong throwing arm from long range
-Pretty good in the clutch
-Average throwing accuracy from short range
-Average baserunner, might pick up a steal or two in a normal 162 game season
-Strong = many homers

Any more comments or questions or ideas?

After I saw your Chris Bosh scouting report I was out. Bosh is not a good defender and is not strong. He can shoot with some range, that's about it. He is a poor rebounder and doesn't play good defense.

Re: MLB roster made up of NBA players

I would go with Bosh as a pitcher instead of 1st baseman. Just a suggestion. The problem I see with NBA guys and translating this to MLB is their size. You're going to have a ton of huge guys on the field, which just doesn't seem right to me. I can't imagine playing a baseball game with a bunch of 6'10 or 6'11 guys out there. It would more interesting to see NFL guys in my opinion.

I did not make the scouting reports from my head. I found them online. Bosh is a first baseman because he actually played first base in high school. About the size, I don't get why everyone thinks that is such a big deal. NBA players aren't even THAT much taller than MLB players.

As of 2011, the average NBA player height was 6'7, while the average MLB player height was 6'2.

To each their own. If you want to make the NBA rosters on MLB 12, go for it. If it is something you want to do and would enjoy doing it, don't let a few posts on here deter you. I just suggested Bosh as a pitcher because I was thinking tall and lanky like Randy Johnson. I had a hard time envisioning his frame as that of a 1st baseman.
