Tips for drawing walks?

does anyone know some good tips for drawing walks?

I get like 1 walk every 10 games. I try to take until i get a strike but playing against the CPU, its almost always a first pitch strike. Then i get into 0-1 0-1 1-2 counts very easy

Any advice on how to force yourself to stay patient?

Wait on the pitch. Swinging last second at borderline pitches can foul off tough pitches and lead to pitches further out that are easier to see and lay off of.

play on all star. Never drew a walk till i switched and now get 3 a game. All star makes for a realistic game.

All Star difficulty, and turn down the pitch speed a couple clicks until you start picking up the delivery.

Another option that helped me in '11 was to turn off check swing appeals. I found that I was getting punched out a great deal on 3-2 counts where I would be prepared to swing at a fastball or protect the plate on a close breaking ball, only to have the ball dip or cut out of the strike zone. Most of my check swings in that situation were appealed, and the 1st or 3rd base ump would slap me with a 3rd strike. Turned off the appeal feature at the all-star break and saw my walks jump to 4 or 5 per game.

This year, in '12, I have the feature back on, and although my numbers are down a bit, I'm still drawing walks without the assistance of no appeals. Last year was my first for The Show, so I guess I needed some assistance making the adjustment, and getting better at not swinging unless it was necessary in that count. As another poster mentioned...try to hold back and not swing until the last possible second if you are in a 3-2 count and just protecting the plate and hoping to draw the walk. But again, this requires getting to at least 3 balls.

I know a lot of players won't play with the feature turned off, but for me it helped me when I was struggling last year.
