Any tips to get the opposing pitchers pitch count up?

Hi,
I have been trying to be patient and take more pitches. When I,m in an unfavorable count I can't seem to foul off many pitches. It seems I either swing and miss or hit a grounder to third or short. I'm wondering if there is some trick to fouling off pitches instead of costing me a weak ground out. Any suggestions?

I'd take until I get a first strike. Then, just be as defensive as you can; look for anything off the plate.

dont touch your controller for the first 2 pitches...it will help you get to better pitch counts

Do not allow pride to get in the way... turn down the pitch speed. We are not trained professionals who have seen tens of thousands of real life pitches.

Slower pitch speed will help with picking up the pitch and location. Do not be afraid to strike out looking a couple times until you start seeing the ball better.

In terms of fouling off pitches, I use contact swing when in poor counts and force the CPU to throw me a fastball.

edit all your players to a height of 5'5, forcing a smaller strike zone for the opposition

If you use guess pitch, then guess one area you either have trouble locating pitches at, or an area you want to hit, and if you're wrong, choose a 2nd location you want to swing at, if the ball isn't in that 2nd location either, then just dont swing.

Biggest thing is not swinging at strikes if you know you'll prob either miss,or get a real bad hit(unless its 2 strikes).

For the most part, wait on the 1st pitch. If you're not getting too many fouls, then increase foul frequency for the user. You should be averaging around 20% foul balls(meaning if 100 pitches were thrown, around 20 should be fouls)

It's a lot easier (and safer) to swing late, than it is to swing early. Just wait really long on every pitch, and all the late swings should end up as intentional fouls.

Also take pitches and all that other stuff.

It seems like the CPU fouls off a lot of balls. Sometimes I Pitch to a 12 pitch at bat. They foul me to death and my starter gets burned out. Then I seem to battle the opposing starter well into the late innings.
