Why can't we...

So watching AZ vs SF today AZ RP Joe Patterson stands almost off the rubber way to the left. My question, why cant we choose where to pitch from on the rubber?

Good question. Here is another one. Why can't we move the batter around in the batters box?

I've wondered that. Maybe not for every at bat but why not in the CAP menu, why can we choose where our pitchers/batters stand?

Re: Why can't we...

Not sure which game it was but there used to be a game that allowed the batter to move anywhere they wanted in the batters box.

I thought that it would be a nice touch to have that option, it would bring "crowding the plate" back into the game and give a whole new strategy to brushing the batter back and then pitching away. With the capabilities of this game and the ps3 I am shocked they haven't figured that it is that good of a option.

Pitching from the side of the rubber on the other hand, I'm not sure what benefits would be gained from doing so. This seems as if it would just be cosmetic in nature and no "real" benefits come from it. However I would think that it would be included in a pitchers unique style and put into their pitching package.

Ken Griffey Jr for SNES was the game you might be thinking of.

It's not realistic to move your batter around the batters box. Hitters are very consistent about how and where they stand.

Ive noticed that some of the batting stances are placed in different positions in the batters box.

Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball allowed you to move in the batter's box anywhere you wanted.
