What is the difference in unlimited rounds vs buying

I'm a bit confused, but if we use coins to unlock unlimited rounds,,we can play the courses anytime offline and online, correct? And if we master a course we own it? I mean isn't that technically the same thing?

Yes, they are the same thing.

On PS3 (where I'm assuming you're playing), you can either use coins to buy rounds and then if you master the course while playing those rounds, you unlock the course for good, or you can just save up coins to buy unlimited rounds, which also unlocks the course.

On 360, you either buy rounds and work to master it or you can buy the course for Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Marketplace (there is no buying unlimited rounds with coins).

Max is exactly correct.. It is either a Xbox Live issue or PSN issue that causes the difference... Some one explained it once, but I can't remember which one was a problem...

Re: What is the difference in unlimited rounds vs buying

I was wondering this myself. I kept hearing people talk of buying unlimited rounds with coins and it seemed like the best way vs paying or mastering. Everytime I looked on the 360 though, the only option for unlimited rounds was using MS points.

I don't know why the discrepancy exists but I will blindly blame MS for it knowing their previous history of dictating no freebees for DLC. So they can make all the extra $2 they want on DLC this generation. Next generation they will not make a dime from me because I am buying Sony. FUMS

Re: What is the difference in unlimited rounds vs buying

You can get the courses for free on the 360... You just have to master the course by getting the rounds with coins... It should take you 6-8 Rounds to do so.. You simply cannot just spend the coins to get it. You would have to play to earn them... It is the only difference.. On PS3, you cannot simply purchase the course.. You have to purchase the coins first and then use the coins as currency...

Just to clarify...

This is partly true...you can buy coins with real money and then buy the course with those coins.

But on PS3, you can also just accumulate coins in-game like everyone else can, and then buy the courses with those coins. So no actual money needs to be spent. And no time needs to be spent mastering the courses.

I'm so glad I bought a PS3 and have this for PS3. Never going back to Microsoft.

Especially since Unlimited only costs the equivalent of 3 rounds....hardly enough time to achieve Gold Mastery.
