Finally hit a HR in a game!!!!!!

15 games into my Braves Franchise...i finally hit my first homer, then followed it up with another one in the same inning.
Chipper got the first one...then J-Hey got the second one!!!

I'm going to be honest, i was getting really frustrated on the lack of homeruns i'm hitting. I play Veteran, with Zone Pure Analog.

I figured out that bringing the right stick back about a halfsecond before I used to made the difference. Actually, i've been getting more hits since I started doing that!!!

Any other tips you guys have to hitting more HRs???
Am i the only one having problems with power numbers?

Congrats. I hit my first with Adam Lind after ten or so games.

I don't think the R2 thing works for Pure Zone Analog batting...

Does it?

Congrats, don't know if this applies to you but here's some info on hitting Home Runs:

1) Obviously, some batters are much better at it than others. Their power rating determines this. A contact hitter with low power is going to get the same trajectories, but without the velocity. So a home run for one guy will look like a deep fly for another hitter with otherwise the same input. Keep this in mind any time you hit a deep fly with a low power guy.

2) It's much easier to pull home runs (Left field for right handed batters) than to push them. You just get more power pulling hits, and there are other factors as well. In general, this means swinging just early on a fastball. The drawback is you could get fooled big on a changeup, or on an outside fastball if you're too early your wrists will roll and you'll hit over the ball and chop it. By the way, swinging too early or too late shifts your PCI up/down accordingly among other things.

3) The ideal pitch to hit a home run is a fastball down the middle, or occasionally an offspeed "meatball" that misses down the middle if you can adjust to it. Meatballs have the biggest home run potential, but you have to adjust your timing or you might end up hitting it deep but foul. The ideal count to get a fastball down the middle are ahead counts such as 2-0 and 3-1.

4) Lastly, the only way to hit a home run is to get under the ball. It doesn't help to hit a ball 100mph off the bat if it's a grounder. And while it's possible, it's much harder to hit a home run low or below the strike zone.

I'd put this in the strategy guide, but there's no room anymore. ;-)

Re: Finally hit a HR in a game!!!!!!

Didn't know people were struggling with this so much. I hammered 9 in 3 games out of the park in my first league series and hit at least 1 or 2 a game depending on who, where, what, etc....

Re: Finally hit a HR in a game!!!!!!

I hit 4 last night with the Angels against the Blue Jays. Including one with Erick Aybar.

I think pitch selection more than anything else is the key.

Re: Finally hit a HR in a game!!!!!!

Took me a season and a half to hit a homer with my RTTS player.
It was a walk off in the 11th, so it was pretty sweet.

Barely cleared the RF wall, thought it was going to be a gapper, but it kept going.
Good stuff
