Help pls! Collector's vs Regular

With the way the new DLC works, is there anything on the Collector's edition that makes it worth the extra $10.

Especially since I can get the regular for $40 on Friday.

Is there anything gameplay related on the Collector's disk that will be unavailable on the regular (i.e. course unlocking)?

Thanks.

Re: Help pls! Collector's vs Regular

You get five courses in the CE that are not part of any of the DLC packs:

PGA National Champion Course (new)
Pinehurst No. 2
Oakmont
Whistling Straits, Straits Course
The Old White TPC (formerly The Greenbrier)

You can download these courses if you were to buy the standard version, but they are only available individually and cost $5-7 a piece. The CE allows you to get all of them for $10 total.

You also get access to the Green Jacket ceremony, Augusta National practice facility and Par 3 course in game through the CE.

As far as gameplay, there don't seem to be any ways to unlock DLC courses faster or anything like that. I'm not positive, but there may be some clubs that are available right off the bat in career mode that are only available on the CE.

The main benefit of the CE is the discounted DLC that is offered.

I would have bought it just for the Augusta practice facility. Too much fun practicing with the move there.

I think IMO the biggest difference is the practice facility with the CE version. You can earn exp if you stay in there and practice like you're supposed to do.

Practice will make you better this year and I'd say that alone is good enough for me.

Awesome, thanks...

I'm sitting here with an unopened copy of the CE trying to find out whatever I can before I open, so I appreciate your quick responses.

One last thing...

From what I've been reading, I thought none of DLC courses actually had to be purchased with cash. I got the idea that you could buy individual rounds with in-game coins, and then unlock the course fully via Mastery. Is this incorrect? Do you have to cash-purchase any course you wish to play, and then coin-purchase the rounds on them after? It seemed to me that cash-purchasing was just a shortcut to fully unlocking a course.

Yeah, the 5 courses would have been nice, especially since the GameStop I went to had two in stock, but reserved yesterday and wouldn't sell them.. I call today and ask, and they say they have one in-stock that came back from reserve... ARGH!!!

Oh well, the regular is still a great game, I just have to download the other courses and I lose out on the practice facility and green jacket ceremony, which OK, cool thing to see once, but it would have been viewed that, only once, had I ever won that tourney...

If you have a chance to get the CE, I would definitely say jump on it... I tried, and was denied... LOL

This is true. The coins can 'rent' rounds at DLC courses. You try to achieve objectives during these rounds. Once all objectives are met, the course is unlocked. So you do not have to spend anything to buy extra courses this year.

But it will take time, patience and practice to do it. So if you don't mind putting in the effort, you don't have to pay for DLC courses.

True... If you are patient and save the coins rather than spend them on pins until you get all the courses, you will never hav to spend a dime for the DLC, it is available for you with in-game coins...
