The problem with Franchise mode (simmed thru 2020)

Hi everyone...me and my friend have simmed thru 2020 controlling two teams and have encountered a few problems that we're wondering how we can fix. We don't want to have to use 30 team control to avoid anything.

First, many minor leaguers (with absolutely no ML service time) want ridiculous contracts. Some ask for up to 5 million per year from what we've seen. Not all these players have high potential. There are also plenty of scrubs in the minors who want 500K or so, and having a bunch of those guys can fill up the budget quickly. We think this has led to a bigger ultimate problem in free agency in the later years.

The free agency problem is as follows: Many superstars are still available late into February, with no offers whatsoever. For instance, as a test, I was able to scoop up Kershaw for 10 years, 300K total (30K per year!). We seem to think that the problem is that the computer controlled teams have no room in their budget because too many minor leaguers are asking for too much money, and the computer is re-signing them at their demands. This fills their budget, and they cannot afford to bring back their stars. Plus, other teams can't afford to sign free agents.

There are other problems with the draft, but I know that's been discussed on the forum.

Is it possible that Knight's roster will help with the minor leaguer's contract requests and help fix this? Or is a patch in order?

I have simmed that deep numerous times and have not experienced players sitting in Feb. What are the settings for the other 28 teams? Is everything on auto?
With the team you are controlling if you offer a low contract to the players with less than 3 years mlb service time they will either accept or you can renew them the last week of Feb.

Everything is an auto for the other 28. And everyone does get signed by the end of February by the computer teams, usually for 1 year and a few million. But it's just weird they don't even get an offer until then.

I'm using some roster I found in the vault that features the Top 100 prospects...Not sure but could a possibility be that there are too many A and B potential guys that are messing up with the way progression and the budgets were meant to be?

I did a test with about 40 extra A players added, but anything is possible depending on number of A added. Still would not change logic for renewable players though.

I'm not sure if everyone who should have been eligible for renewal is becoming eligible. A lot of minor leaguers, when their initial contracts out of the draft expire can become free agents (if I recall correctly). Then, they ask for larger deals than warranted. There is no option to renew.

Are you talking for YOUR team?

That will be the last day of the off season. You get to renew them at ....at least 80% of their current contract.

Yes mine. Let me give an example thTat doesnt include a draft pick for now. In these rosters, Manny Banuelos became a free agent after a couple years. I hadn't added him to the 40 man which obviously means no service time. Shouldn't he have been eligible for renewal?

Edit: IIRC, he asked for roughly 2 million per year. Again, no ML service time.

Players have to be on 40 man roster to be renewable, actually. That's the problem your experiencing on your team.
