50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher

I can't be the only one experiencing this so often. Every game, I seemed to be hitting the ball hard at the pitcher and having it deflect off him... so I decided to keep track over 50 games, how often if happened.

50 games. 63 deflections.

So that means that over 1 time per game, I'm rocketing the ball back and hitting the pitcher. How often do we see that a year while watching our real life teams? Once? Maybe twice?

And not only that, but in those 63 deflections, not one pitcher was injured or effected. Is there some sort of slider I can use to adjust this happening?

I've seen this many times as well and also I have yet to see the pitcher actually come off the field. My last game I hit a liner right off his leg and the ball rolled towards first base and he was able to fully sprint to the ball and throw me out at first.

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher

Is this referring to only you as the hitter or combined with the CPU hitters or against another human?

If you mean just you against the CPU, I can offer you this advice:

Perfect timing = A higher likelihood of balls hit to the center of the diamond.

Early and Late timing = A higher likelihood of balls hit to the right/right center of the diamond and the left/left center of the diamond.

Do you have a breakdown of how often it's happening to you versus your CPU opponent (if in fact you are playing against the CPU)?

I'm a pitcher in RTTS (pitched something like 140-150 innings total) and played maybe 12-20 games outside of that. I've seen the pitcher hit/deflect balls all of 2 or 3 times. I've seen balls go right by the mound, that I wish I could get a hand on, but I'm definitely not seeing 1+ game.

I've seen it happen to the same batter in back-to-back at-bats but not nearly this much and not as much as last year. What I don't understand is how a pitcher has never gotten injured on this type play.

I also suspect that the OP's tendency to hit to center (i.e., timing is neither early nor late enough) is a factor. I also tend to hit to center as well, thought hitting pitchers don't bother me as much (thought I still think it's more than you'd expect in real life).

I don't think there's a way to see the spray chart (am I right?), but OP might want to check timing label in the batter analysis screen to see how often you are late/early on your safe hits. That might explain part of the issue... which you may be able to correct by clicking down HUM Timing slider perhaps?

Re: 50 game sample size - Hitting the pitcher

Completely agree with the OP. I am definitely seeing 1+ a game. Only solution for me is pressing start right away and changing teams (hate having to do it), but it's very annoying hitting the ball up the middle like you're supposed to and having a pitcher take it off his body to make the play.
