So I was looking through Brian's Research Thread, and I realized that a lot of problems I assumed were exclusive to me actually seem to be encountered by many others. It's weird, because it doesn't apply to the CPU, or even to batting when not using Zone.

For example, I have noticed that it is much harder than it should be to get a ball into an outfield gap. It seems every "superb" and "solid" ball I hit well takes a deep fly ball trajectory instead of a line drive one, resulting in a lot of games where my only hits are shallow line drive singles and home runs.

There doesn't seem to be enough power or arc on line drives, nor are solidly hit line drives hit often enough. Don't confuse this with me saying there aren't enough solid hits. I hit a lot of scorchers, but they all seem to be deep fly balls and stuff. Actual line drives seem to be a rarity on the human side. You can check your line drive percentages with the analysis screen at the end of games, and my LD% is always lower than it should be, even in games where I have 8, 10, even 12 hits.

And again, I'm fully aware the CPU offense doesn't share this issue, although I haven't figured out why.

Last year this would have been an easy fix with sliders, but honestly for some reason this game kind of has me scratching my head with regards to Human-offense sliders. The new ball physics seems to have changed the way some things are affected, and I feel like I'm a long way from really feeling comfortable with knowing what they do.

I don't know whether the issue is directly in the zone interface, or it relates to the new ball physics, but I've played enough games now to feel comfortable in saying it's a real issue, that only seems to be experienced by Zone Hitting users (and maybe Zone-Analog also...)

That means if you don't play Zone, don't come in here saying you don't see the issue

(unless you do see the issue, then come on in lol...).

So the point of this thread: to see if anyone else shares my observations, or has their own things they've noticed/have a problem with. Just sit down, drink some apple juice...

Hey, I just bought some apple juice the other day.

I hit strictly on zone and see gappers all the time. Not sure if you mean the other hitting interfaces but on zone, I'm not really seeing an issue with this. You should lower the difficulty.

Do you use guess pitch?

Are they deep enough that they become doubles or triples? And I'm getting enough hits, I have 9 and 10 hit games with regularity, it's just that too many of my hits are either singles or home runs. I hit gappers very occassionally, but they are nowhere near on par with MLB averages and everything.

They are doubles in the gap. No way they would become triples - they are stand up doubles. I obviously don't upload them all but here are two from the same game:

Just look at the highlight thread - you should see the same type of hits that people have posted throughout.

If all your hits are singles or HR's, you may want to lessen the pitch speed. Your timing probably isn't as solid as it should be. HR's typically come from perfect placement. They are also more prone to happen to a tired pitcher.

Same here, I use zone hitting and have no problem at all.

I'm seeing the same thing.

And it frustrates me to no end.

I might have to use some zone batting sliders. Or else, I'm taking the disk and EATING it!

With some tasty Apple juice.
