No real glitches in this game. If you get it, start a franchise and I'll give you some pointers

Thanks man, I'm hopefully gonna grab this tomorrow and look to start with the pats at first even though i have a feeling the first few years should be a cake walk, but maybe its best to start with an easier team

Should be able to find it relatively cheaply.
When you start in, please take your time. It's beautifully overwhelming at first. Read all you can on here, there are some fanastic threads that walk through everything! Just search or ask.

Awesome game!
Wish it was still being updated/revised each year.

Have fun!!!!!

Believe it or not Winnipeg it was reading your Raiders dynasty that basically made my decision up whether to get this game or not

Re: Everything I'm reading on here makes this game sound like a blast

There -are- bugs and quirks in the game.
Save often. alternate between at least 2 saves (I use 3-4).

if the sound gets screwed up, your game is likely going to crash soon.

in normal mode, the running game is woefully underpowered compared to real life, while the passing game is too good. in supersim mode, the opposite is true. in pure sim mode, it has been shown that the game will ignore entire catagories of players (your offensive line doesn't matter at all for instance). your experience with the game will vary a lot depending on which mode you choose. the most common I see around here is to supersim preseason games and then play normal mode regular and post season games. some people supersim everything. very few people seem to pure sim.

don't mess with the sliders unless you're experimenting. chances are they aren't doing what they're labeled. we have a whole subforum here where people have spent time experimenting to determine what exactly the sliders are doing and how to get the results they're looking for. a lot of us use ebon's sliders as they seem to produce a fairly realistic game (as much as possible).

sometimes (I've still seen this happen rarely post-patch), if you start contract negotiations after a tuesday, you'll see people asking for rediculous contracts. a 3rd-string running back asking for a 50 million contract for instance. there is no way to fix this other than reload a save prior to it happening (thus, save often).

there are some pretty unrealistic things you can do in this game, such as editing a player to another position while they're on an opposing team, and then trading for them for peanuts, then editing them back to their original position and trading them back for a 1st round draft pick or something like that. you can do the same thing at contract time to give your hall-of-fame-worthy quarterback the contract of a 3rd string wide receiver. it's up to you whether you want to use these quirks.

if often seems that whatever team you're playing against almost always seems to suddenly become super-bowl caliber inside the 2 minute warning. if you've been shutting their passing game down for the previous 58 minutes, with 2 minutes left on the clock they will suddenly start completing every hail mary pass they attempt. if you -truly- overshadow them in talent and coaching, this isn't as frequent, but it's still there.

quirks and bugs aside, this is an absolutely fantastic game if you like sims or management games. don't let my list of bugs and quirks dissuade you. I play this game constantly nonetheless.

This is one game I go back to over and over again. Even though school gets in the way sometimes (it is strange how those papers wont grade themselves!) I still have my notes and can normally pick up where I left off.

I like NCAA but this is a different kind of challenge...and I love a challenge!

Good luck and enjoy!

Very cool. Thank you so much.

I agree with the post above that there are some quirks in the game, some more obvious than others. In fact in my dynasty (at least the first year) I have noted some occasions when the game did weird things.

By the way in the second year of the dynasty I swear I hear "voices" other than the coaching staff when the coaches pop up to comment. I'm often concentrating on something else at the time and don't quite catch what they say, but I'm sure they are there.
Or...maybe it just me??

And, in case it hasn't been mentioned, there is some customization too, so you can toggle certain things on or off, depending on your desired level of immersion. For example in my Raiders dynasty I have the GM handling all the scouting duties (which is extremely involved) just so I can move a little faster through playing the games and writing the series.

Take your time and you will enjoy the depth of this game I'm sure!
