RTTS too easy to get called up this year?

I apologize if there's already a thread for this.

I haven't played RTTS since 09....and I'm loving it this year.

However, I already got called up to the bigs in early August of my very first season! I was hitting .282 as a 2B in AAA, but my guy isn't that great. In fact, there are two 2B's on the roster that have much better ratings than I do. I've never completed all 4 of the advancement goals at once. I was actually going through a big cold slump in AAA...my batting average had dropped from like .330 to .282 and I was worried about getting dropped in the order.....and BAM, the next thing I know I'm called up to the MLB. Doesn't make sense to me

The other weird thing is that I went 0 for 4 in my first MLB start, hitting 8th in the order.....then in my next start, the manager had me leading off! I mean, my guy is fast....but an 18 year old leading off on an MLB team is unheard of.

Definitely seems that they're giving me unrealistic advancement opportunities.

Did people complain that is was too hard to get called up in years past, so they overcompensated and made it way too easy or something? ....because that's what I'm seeing and it kind of takes the fun out of it since I don't feel like I've come anywhere close to earning a leadoff spot on an MLB team yet.

I'm not sure what to do now cause it feels too phony to keep going with this 2B. I have to say I'm bummed with this particular aspect of the game

Well your reason is listed on the first paragraph haha! It was harder in 09 than the past 3 games to get called up honestly. The goals now seem more easier to achieve.

I rarely ever complete 4/4 goals. Most of the time I only get 2/4.....

But an 18 year old leading off in the MLB in early August of my first year, when I'm only the 3rd best 2B on the roster and I was seriously slumping in AAA hitting 5th? Just doesn't seem right at all.

I love everything else about the game though, but RTTS is my favorite mode, so I don't want it to be this easy, lol.

It doesn't sound realistic I know but.. it literally depends on your stats dude! lol

You put a lot of points into stuff like contact and power so if you're literally leading the Mayors in your first year in home runs with 87 (I'm making these up of course I did this last year) you have nothing to do but tip your cap off and tell yourself "I did that great with my character".

If you want a challenge then try and make a Jimmy Rollins, someone with a lot of speed but not a lot of power it'll be fun.

Re: RTTS too easy to get called up this year?

Eh it is easier than some but the easiest one to get called up on was 06 the show. I just finished my first season. I got traded from my favorite team the DBacks to the Crappy Rays. But it's business so i dealt with it. I signed a contract at the end of the season for a starting Job at triple A. I simmed spring training. But did my training sessions and i found out to start the next season, I was in the majors on the bench. So back to your question. Yea it is a bit easier to get to the majors in 12. In 11 the show it took me two full seasons, to make it to the majors. I was however a starter for the cubs.
I did however get to the bigs in 5 months in 06, one season in 07, 1 and a half seasons in 08, 2 seasons in 09, 1 season in 10.
It is varied though. I have played every game, depends on how you do and what happens, and the team you play for and how good the players are ahead of you. In your case maybe some luck. I think it is just varied.

Actually my guy is a speedster with very little power. I've only hit 4 homers in 4 months.

Like I said, my stats aren't that great. I do have a lot of steals, but that's it, and I was only hitting 5th in AAA, and thought I was in danger of being moved down in the order since I just went 0-4 in my last AAA game and my manger recently denied my request to get moved up higher in the order, when all of a sudden, surprise surprise: I get called up to the bigs!

My wife was actually watching when I got called up and even she couldn't believe it. She actually said, "I thought this game was supposed to be realistic?"......lol

It's still fun, but I just wish there was a setting that made the callup timing more realistic.

Re: RTTS too easy to get called up this year?

I think it also matters what your MLB team is in need of at that point. Are the other 2b's way better? You bring speed and in the majors that gets you top of the order. To me it sounds like your minor league coach had you in the wrong spot. My 5th batter has power and good contact, not good speed. Why would you want your 5th batter to have speed, if he gets on who is going to score him, the 8th batter.

You said you had stolen bases and that is what good leadoff hitters bring to the game, along with good OBP. I say don't think too hard about it.

May try to break Ricky Henderson's records and be the best leadoff man in the history of baseball.

The other 2B's that are ranked higher than me on the roster have better batting and fielding ratings, but I definitely have the most speed.

I was just shocked to be on a major league roster his soon, but I'm going to make the most of it.
