Any news on an NFL 2k game?

How could there be? EA owns the exclusive rights. 2K football is, just as it was last year, still dead.

Why does everyone assume a 2K game will be so great? It's not like the same people will be working on a new game. They will be starting totally from scratch and will have to develop a whole new game.

They have the code from APF 2k8. Hell, update the graphics, add NFL franchise, instantly better than Madden.

Apparently the license can end soon and based on NBA 2k's success maybe the NFL would allow 2 games.

Sounds like you are pretty certain. Here is a guarantee, EA will never make a better football game than 2K period.
Can't beat em' might as well create an illegal monopoly and overcharge for a crappy game but all is well because stupid homers will keep buying the same crap.
