MLB 2K12 believes in “Moneyball”. In a Franchise sim it was the Oakland A’s winning the World Series in a “Battle of the Bay” against the San Francisco Giants. Player stats looked to be pretty reasonable and there were no wacky trades made by the CPU. Continue on to check out the results of the simmed season – which includes the new format for the Playoffs as well as tie-breakers for the division crown.

dang, looks liek they didn't touch the sim engine. Check out those HR totals...*smh*

I tried to fiddle with power last year and unless you want to kill gameplay it can't be fixed. The distribution needs to be curved higher. Cruz should be leading with 47 not 37.

Batting averages are the same as last year too. Way too low. It looks like .300 hitters top out at 6 or 7 players. IRL there's at least 25-30 a year. Not good 2K, not good.

The average thing, you're probably right about, although we can't see past the #5 guy.

Idk about the HR thing though...how many 40+ HR hitters have we really had recently?

Since you made me curious about this, I wanted to do some research into that very thing. Here's what I found:

Since 2007, there has only been 16 guys who've eclipsed 40 HRs (with 50+ being done 3 times.) The list includes 10 different players, with the rest being repeat offenders in Pujols, Bautista, Howard, Fielder, and Dunn. The league leader in HRs in that time span has averaged 49.2 HR/season. However, this is slightly skewed by a couple of outliers (54 by Bautista and A-Rod one time each in this time span.) Eliminating those, would bring it down to an even 46 HR/season (which suggests your number is fairly correct.)

Pretty much. Carp must have had a career year with a 1.86. I can see a 1.01 whip, but that ERA is way too low for Carp.

Nice to see they got the ERA down. Last year everyone was sky high in that statistic. You'd be lucky to see anyone under 3.

Or am I thinking 2k10? Either way it's been a problem in the past.

lol, thanks for confirming my assumptions number35. It was the same thing last year, and it doesn't look like they tweaked it at all.

I don't see any huge issues with the stats, offense is a bit low but nothing out of this world.
