Jake Peavy contract

I started a Toronto Blue Jays franchise and wanted to trade for Jake Peavy, but wow his contract ridiculous. I'm a big fan of Peavy, but would never take on his 11.4M contract(especially since he's at his potential).. it seems like all the pitchers in this game are way overpaid.. anyone else have a player that they really want to play with but their contract keep you away?

Do you know what Jake Peavy's contract is in real life? He's getting paid $17 Million for this upcoming season alone. So in actuality, he's cheap in the game.

$17 million is pretty fair for a guy who's started 32 games over the last two seasons.

Thank god this is the last year of Peavy. They hold a team option for next year worth $22 million so there is no way they will pick that up. I wonder if they can just throw in the buy out of $4 million into this year budget.

Yes, pitchers ask for way too much money in the game. The problem is that by the time they become worth is (age 28-32) is the peak, they're already at 17 mil a year.

Because this game does NOT use real life team budgets, all contracts should be scaled up or down based on a ratio...basically the value of a dollar should change in the game.

Who knows, I hear they've fixed a lot of things.

Re: Jake Peavy contract

Maybe with a potential Franchise overhaul for The Show 13, they will allow us the opportunity to set team budgets and customize contracts (length, value etc). Maybe for the team budgets, have an average year budget, a low attendance a.k.a. underperforming season budget and a high attendance/playoff revenue season budget. Meaning, if you're drawing fans, you can top up your payroll with a deadline trade or roll it over to next year's payroll and on the flip side, if you're having a rough year, you are forced to shed some payroll at the deadline or put it off until the offseason.

Similar to what we have now but a little more streamlined without all the extra nonsense (marketing, banking etc) that most of us set to Auto anyway. I think the coolest idea would be to be able to edit contracts. This would make Knight & Co.'s job that much larger with the OS roster but itd be great to have proper budgets and contracts.

This reminds me, why does the game never use real life contracts? Why not actually say Peavy makes $17M a year in the game? Why not have realistic payroll figures? I've never understood that.

Dictated by the MLBPA, unfortunately - SCEA's not allowed to use the real figures. As Knight mentioned on a similar topic some time ago, the other game seems to get a few bones thrown its way on stuff like this (in other words, their contracts are closer to real life)
