Please help me defend cheese

Can anyone here please help me on how to defend people forcing EVERYTHING into the paint? I just played game on of a playoff series where this guy keeps lead passing to people under the rim and forcing EVERY damn thing. He beat me 107-101 and scored 72 points in the paint. Another 18 from free throws. So thats 90 out of 107 in the paint and I couldnt stop it. 1-3-1 zone, man, halfcourt press nothing worked.

Please help me! I got to play this jerk atleast 3 more times and if i dont stop him I might break something!

Re: Please help me defend cheese

1 of 2 ways I'd suggest.

What team are you using and what team is he using? Who is on each of your teams and I could help more. Is he using post moves or just driving?

Back to the tips though.

First, try a basic man to man and just use the sag off feature. You could alter the defensive settings yourself by going into the defensive settings and put on-ball defense for everyone on moderate, off ball-sag off, screens- go under, and no hedge. Then go into your coach profile put your def pressure around to 50 and help defense to 100. Play off ball with your bigs or weak side defenders and just put your hands straight up when he gets the ball in the paint.

Secondly, just try a 1-3-1 and use the sag off defense. Control the middle man and/or the point guard and help/double down on everything. Remember to put your hands up when double teaming.

Fight cheese with cheese - use a 1-3-1 zone defense.

Re: Please help me defend cheese

Well i lost even worse in game two trying this. 131 he just dances around with his pg and sends someone on a cut under the basket and its good every ****in time, I sag off and all hes doing is draining 3 pointers with EVERYONE!

Doesnt anyone play real basketball anymore?

Maybe play man and use the center to run low block to low block depending on what side the ball is on. Chandler wont do much offensively, so this might work.
Unfortunately, this game basically caters to cheesers. Dont play randoms anymore, try getting games and OAs from here.

Re: Please help me defend cheese

When I play against people using the same strategies I'll usually roll with a 2-3 zone and control the defender closest to the ball handler. From there, I'll usually sag off a tad bit from the perimeter to force my opponent to hit jumpers. The biggest piece of advice I can offer is to keep your hands up. Keeping your hands up while playing loose on the perimeter will either alter a shot if their foot is near the line or force them to take a step or two back to have a clear three.

When you're inside the paint and keep your hands up you'll alter your opponent's shots. You won't block it, but you will keep your post players away from foul trouble, which should help lower free throws against you.

Hope this helps!

Sorry that is what I do when people try to pound the paint and it usually works. He shouldn't be able to do lead passes in the paint on you if you keep your hands up. Did you not get any steals? What was his fg pct and what was yours?
