big men not getting enough boards?

i'll play an association with the t'wolves, kevin love will end up with 3 rebounds and beasley maybe 5 or 6. meanwhile, rubio or wes johnson will end up with 8 or 10 rebounds. how can i fix this and make it to where big men will be in the 10's in rebounds and smaller (non-rebounding oriented) players will get less?

also, i'm aware certain small players are great rebounders (rondo westbrook etc.) but rubio certainly is not. thanks for the help in advance guys

2k's rating system is kind of flawed. Even if you give a player 99 attributes in rebounding stats, it mostly depends on his athleticism, vertical, and quickness. A lot of the more athletic guards will out-rebound a big most days of the week. For instance, Zach Randolph is a great post player and rebounder but in the game, because of his lack of athleticism and speed make him unplayable.

yeah, that just doesn't sit right with me. if randolph can get 12 boards a game while being slow and having a low vertical in real life, the game should mirror that.

If you're just fed up with this should use this formulas.
OffenseReboundRating = 6 * (OffReb% - 2) + 25
DefenseReboundRaging = 5 * (DefReb% - 4) / 2 + 25
Its for a legit simulation formula it will perfect the stats the highest I got for Love is 13.8. It is also good for gameplay.

Part of the problem is how the rebounding plays out. They do seem to value athlethism and vertical over rebounding ratings sometimes. You can bring your guard down and just jump and there is a good chance you will pull down the board based off vertical. In real life you would see more over the backs when the guards do it.

They either need more ratings or rebounding attributes sort of like the type of jumpers

Hustle rebounder: Kevin Love is a hustle rebounder. He just out hustles most guys especially on the offensive boards. Varejo will fall in the category, Humphries. These guys just have a different motor while others are standing around they are hustling.

Tip out artists: Varejo he is very good at hustling and then tipping it out a lot of people do it but I notice he does it well.

Positional rebounders/box out specialist: These are the boxout specialist. They don't have to have extreme verticals. Zach Randolph, , Marc Gasol, Perkins, Love, Howard to name a few they are the ones that are just very strong and can keep people out of their area. The closest reference is blocking in football

Athlethic rebounders: These are people that rely on their verticals mainly to get rebounders. Most guards and wings fall into this category but also players like Deandre Jordan fall into this category, Howard can do this as well. They are also quick second jumpers.

If you look at the great rebounders in real life they do fall in more than one category which makes them great rebounders. Howard can can use boxout skills and athlethism. Love can use hustle and great boxing out to get boards. I might put this in the wishilist thread. I would love to see the game resemble this. Most guards get rebounds by long rebounds tipped out by somebody or quick shots and get very rare rebounds by just running and jumping over everybody else.

If you have a ps3 try my rosters I have fixed that problem Love and Howard get round 15-20 a game plus all the double digit rebounders in the league. I paid extra attention to those two since they have 20-20 nights. If you dont have a ps3 put hands, vertical, rebounds and hustle to the 90's for elite rebounders in the league will make a huge difference. 2k cheated us out of a game but it is fixable. Also vertical has alot to do with it vertical should be on 0 try my sliders out also. I was having the same problem you were having one point in time but I fixed it.

Re: big men not getting enough boards?

I think its a game issue!

Too many times I am seeing players in great position for the rebound but they just stand and look at the ball or don't jump just reach for it.

The main problem is players don't jump to get the ball they just jump with their hands up. Kevin Love is actually more athletic than people think. His max vert was 35 a few years ago and that is when he weighed 270.

Verticals may play a role with rebounds but verticals are not in the game. 2K has set animations for rebounds and blocking and a players attributes don't play a role at all.

I can use Howard to jump for a rebound and Nelson will jump also but Nelson will jump higher for the rebound than D12 which makes no sense.

I have done many test and 2K has it that shorter players jump higher for rebounds and blks than big men.

EX.
D12 vert is 90 or around it; at tip off you can win the tip 90% of the time against D12 with players who vert is 70 or below.

D12 and other big men with a high vertical rarely jumps high to get rebounds or blk shots in the game.

I use a roster where Love and Howard are the rebounding leaders (13+) every time in association simulation. In a actual game their rebounds are low unless you control them all the time.
